"We were in the mood for something casual. We had been having big, several course dinners for a week and wanted something light. Our hotel, Pura Vida, recommended Jalepenos. We were extremely happy to meet, upon arrival, Norman, the English speaking owner. He stands outside and welcomes his patron..."s when not inside making sure you are being well taken care of. He is very attentive to his customers. Each person in our family ordered something different. We all liked what we had. Chicken taquitos, beef tacos, sopas, and a cheese quesadilla were tried. There salsa is very spicy and flavorful. (Use it sparingly if you are not used to extra hot!) We highly recommend Jalapenos.

"This new-looking restaurant is on the way down the mountain from Poas Volcano. Lots of glass and light. The staff were really freindly. We ate there in early April, after the tourist boom season had ended. Lots of local folks stopped in to eat while were there. The casado (under $7)was the best..." I had while in Costa Rica for 3 weeks. There are so many small restaurants along the way to Poas that it's hard to know where to stop. This was a winner.

"The Lincoln Mall is brand new and has about 100 stores - shops, restaurants etc. There is a chain called Rosti Pollo that can be found all over San Jose. This one in the mall is very nice and reasonable. The seating has a nice view of the main road in , I think, Monrovia, the town where the mall is...." The food is a lot better than any "fast food" chain and the menu is quite large. Besides chicken - pollo means chicken - there are lots of ethnic Costa Rican dishes. The times my friends and I have been to these places, I have always gotten some kind of chicken dish. The nice thing about the one in The Lincoln Mall is that it is very bright and off the main part of the mall. Also in the mall, there is a Starbucks. The prices are very reasonable at Rosti Pollo with about 12 dollars getting one a full meal.
