We ate the Whampoa club, which is housed in a one of the very beautiful buildings – many of thes..."e old building are home to some really very good bars, restaurants and chic hotels. The view from the Whampoa across the river at night is simply stunning. The food is to a high standard, varied, well cooked, well presented and the service is first class. We had a large selection of fish, seafood, meat, vegetable, rice and noodles – some of the best I tasted whilst I was there. If there is a downside, drinks are mega expensive – but so they are across Shanghai unless you hit some of the old bars, so be prepared – a decent wine would be 700RMB - £70 whereas it would be at be about half of that in the UK.
