Now it has become very popular and there are also turists among the many citizens, but the quality has not gone down nor the price up. It happened in the past, but not now. The Ferro di Cavallo is not only at its very best ever, but it also offers a level of quality that is rare in Palermo. I absolutely recomend this place to anyone visiting the city or the historic centre in particular, as well as the few palermitans who funnily enough don't know it yet.

"It was our first visit to Palermo- we were staying in Cefalu. We wandered the streets near Teatro Massimo and came across Focacceria Basile purely by chance. We saw a very few tables outside and really we just wanted cold drinks. However we saw and smelled the food on display and decided to eat a..." light lunch. We shared a plate of porchetta and a plate of caponata - delicious! We saw the homemade pannacotta and the lovely strawberries and we had to have both! Scrumptious! The place began to fill with local people - one man saw me looking at the food and told me he was waiting for that day's special which was pasta with a tomato sauce - he recommended that I should have it - maybe another time! Everything looked wonderful. Although I hadn't realised the ticket waiting system, the lady at the counter was very kind and took my order anyway without any money being paid.
