"Le Monchu is right in the town centre just over the river. They specialise in typical French cuisine for cold climates. We had steak to barbeque on our table together with melted cheese, with potato and salad. We managed a dessert but that filled us. Together with wine and beer the cost for three of..." us came to 110 euros, and well worth every cent.

"An informal restaurant/pub where we went to experience some of the best local beef steaks in the town. All locally sourced and served with superb sauces. Set in Chamonix Sud, this English run pub also serves some good wine and beer. Sky sports was shown on the big screen, so not for the quiet romant..."ic dinner, but still a great place where a substantial meal for there with drinks cost 110 euros.

"Le Fer a Cheval would be our first choice if we were to revisit Chamonix but Le Monchu would be a close second. The themed decor is muted and stylish compared to the heavily themed La Caleche and has more of a restaurant feel to it. The lamb shank was very good and they happily swapped the creamed p..."olenta for vegetables. La Boite Chaude is a fine solo alternative if you don't have the compulsory partner required for a fondue. The Coupe Mont Blanc was generously heavy with creme de marons. Nothing is "cheap" in Chamonix but at 80 euros for two it was good value and we enjoyed a very pleasant meal plus the staff were friendly and helpful.
