A smiling man at the counter read my face and informed me that the aroma was the Pork Cheek cooking for this evening service. But we had reservations elsewhere. "That's too bad... This night it was a wonderfully subtle Onion Pie. Fresh eggs and herbs and the uber-flaky crust presented a healthy, flavorful burst of onion. Great. Then Braised Pork Cheek with summer vegetables. It was sublime. The sauce was flawless, the veggies perfectly paied with the rich cheek meat. One of the best plates of my two week journey.
