"Angela's Bakery and Cafe now titled Angela's Diner is a treat for anyone who has spent too much time spent in the main tourist areas of Chaweng and Lamai. A great looking place with a cafe style and decor very reminiscent of a Paris Bistro or UK/USA country bakery cafe. Angela and her staff are poli..."te and friendly helpful people who in addition to good service are quite helpful in offering advice on or about Samui.
The place is quite spacious yet cosy with great air conditioned + fans within the internal dining space or air fanned cooled external dining area with overhead cover. Very comfortable and a respite from the Samui heat and some of the heavy downpours you may experience here. There is a yester-year feel to the place with the walls adorned with art work and pictures usually found and seen in many Cafe Bistros, Diners from as far as the USA and Europe of that era. Quite stylish by anything I have seen in Samui.
The food here is excellent and Angela's expertise of producin...

"This deserves 4.5 stars, but I want to keep them honest : )
The food is great but not 'oh my god'. Its classic, fresh. We had calamari / watermelon, duck breast and scallops.
I was disappointed with the calamari / watermelon - so interesting, I had expected something special.
But nobody sa..."ne would ever be sorry they came here. It was probably our best meal on Samui, though we skipped the celebrity chefs. The German owner / server is a joy to interact with - the balance between 'professional / efficient' and 'engaging' he has down to an art. A very difficult art. Because the place was packed when we were there, and probably always is (low season) - its small. They are BUSY. Not the usual situation of people standing around.....
NB we did a little survey of 3 small expat kitchens. Went against all good sense and my own biases: Barracuda wins...... Still..... mildly (only mildly - I had high expectations) disappointed with food....

"As a Swiss restaurant, it has an ironic location by the beach with open air but they serve very good Thai food here. I particularly liked the sweet sour prawn soup as well as the steamed fish. Very good thai food for a Swiss restaurant!!!"
