I followed chef/owner Ismael from his original restaurant Eminem in Perth to Gigi Baba in Melbourne because of the amazing food, delicious wine and great service. I have eaten here on multiple occasions and although each time I build it up more and more I have never been disappointed. We recently moved to Melbourne and I was worried I would... More

Smith Street is an amazing place for finding good restaurants in cool locations. Me, as Italian, I am quite surprised about the culinary level I have been encountering in this area. The restaurant that deserve the best mention in Fitzroy is Gigi Baba. Long bar desk to sit, among few tables in and out. You better reserve, if you don't... More

I arrived in Melbourne and showed up on the door step as soon as they opened. That suited me as I was still on Middle East time zone. Bit early to eat as a rule but no bookings here so first in best dressed. Turkish Mezze to start (as delicious as eating in Istanbul), turkish style tabbouleh with pomegranate, various... More

This small and bustling little cafe is deceiving. There are only a few tables but sitting at the bar is very comfortable. The food is fabulous tapas style turkish!! It is a little expensive (one you add up all the little dishes) but worth the price tag. Hummus to die for, flat green beans amazing, burek that melts in your... More

We went mid-week, it was busy so we sat at the bar, a fast efficient, friendly service, we had about eight tasting plates which were all good, especially the prawn, fasulye and eggplant. The cutlets were a bit dry, but tasted good. The atmosphere is warm with good lighting. You could almost miss it if you walked past, but it's... More

We arrived at about ten to ten to be told we'd have to order quick as the kitchen would be closing soon. I do find it strange that a world city like Melbourne has so many restaurants that close so early. We decided to let the kitchen decide what we ate though and we were so glad we did. Since... More

although the food was a little pricey ... it was well worth it!! from the oysters to the baba ganoush (with endless supply of bread!) to the yummy wine matched perfectly by Paul! Well worth a visit when in Melbourne and easy access from trams! More

One of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. Every dish we ordered was so delicious, I couldn't make a decision as to which I most preferred - perfect combinations of flavours! DO try the pomegranate and cauliflower salad and the bean salad as part of your selection of dishes, though. As to the price, it may be... More

We were customers of the owner's first restaurant in Perth, Eminem, and were very glad that he's gone back to the basic, flavour filled cuisine at his Melbourne restaurant. We had a fantastic dinner here, the lamb cutlets were so very memorable and we're just upset that we have to travel across the country to taste such good flavours. Get... More

Excellent food and great staff but they do that annoying 'we don't take bookings' thing so get there early. Most of the seating is on stools which is alright but not terribly comfortable. The food is small portions, really bloody delicious. It's so good you wont feel ripped off, but take your wallet!! This place ain't cheap!! More
