Being at Apicius for the second time was a bit of a gamble. First time i got there, the place was empty. This time most tables were taken.
The chefs menu was our choice. With a nice Poully Fume (ladouchette). The wine was not too expensive. And tasted great.
The 'amuses' were ok. But the appetizers were great. Cocquilles, lobster...

Visiting Apicius about 1-2 times a year it is a real gem situated near the shore and beaches in Bakkum in the west of Holland. The service is exemplary and the food very good. Prices are steep, but worth the money. Recomended.

Need I say more: a two star restaurant and well deserved. Great food, great wine, relaxing atmosphere. When in the neighbourhood (and in the possesion of a credit card with a high limit) stop by and treat yourself.

This restaurant is Castricum's(Bakkum) 2 star michelin restaurant. The food is spectacular as you would expect. The decor was the only thing for me to be a bit drab though one might say that is part of this winner's unpretentious charm!
