We only stayed in San Giovanni Rotondo for one night and were desperate for nice place to eat and relax after busy but lovely day. We walked for a long time and finally in one narrow street we saw the sign for "Taverna Dei Pirgiani da Fil e Max" so we gave it a try.

Having stayed in San Giovanni for more than 2 weeks, I was able to enjoy Fil e Max's food on a number of occasions. I particularly enjoyed the wonderful seafood entrees, but perhaps the most refreshing aspect of my experience was the owner Filippo, whose passion for cooking was highly evident in his hospitality, personality and obviously, his delicious dishes....

Great food, Great ambiance, Great Hospitality. The owner Fil is so passionate about the food he serves and wants to make his patrons feel like family. The restaurant is off a side street and not easy to find, but we are so glad we did. The food was phenomenal. We were only in San Giovanni Rotondo for one night and...
