Canadian Roger and his Thai wife Nud create wonderful western and eastern cuisine, as well as being thoughtful and friendly hosts. If you're tired of the ubiquitous beach BBQ's and nightly fire shows, wander down main street and try the freshest food, imaginatively prepared at little this gem. I'm only sorry I didn't find Red Ginger sooner, as I wont... More

This is not your typical restaurant in the least but it was by far the best we visited while in Koh Samet. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff are wonderful. We actually visited while the owners' Canadian daughter and boyfriend were in town visiting Roger on a holiday of their own. They both helped out with serving and entertaining... More

After 4 weeks of eating Thai food my Son and I needed a change so we decided to try Red Ginger. We stood for quite some time before the waitress acknowledged our presence at took us to a table. That was the only negative. After taking our orders (I ordered the middle eastern lamb and my son ordered the lamb... More

3 weeks post-Koh Samet I can now feel sorry for the Canadian owner/chef who 'runs' this place, but at the time I ate there I did not feel proud to be a fellow Canadian. He was obviously under-staffed, but I got the impression he was a 1-man show, although his wife and mother-in-law were 'working' but rather useless from what... More

We visited the Red Ginger restaurant, a group of 11, and had a great meal in a friendly easy-going atmosphere. Our group ranged in ages from 1 year to 60 years and there was something for everyone. With the choice of great Thai food to Western food, the meals were all fantastic. This restaurant is owned by a Canadian guy,... More

I think the positive comments here are from the friends and family of the owner. The food is really bland and expensive for its value. Please let us all be honest (that's the point of trip advisor) I tried to give it a second chance and ate there again and of course, like what I expected, I wasted my time.... More

the red ginger gives you the warmest of welcome, the accomaduction is clean well kept. the food is of the highist standard, the spare ribs are to die for, not overlooking the loin of pork and the chicken in white wine and mushroom sauce. i would recamend the resturant and accomadation. More

I first stumbled upon Red Ginger and its infamous owner Roger whilst desperately seeking a room one day- as Ko Samed had become jam packed on this particular Thai long weekend. Ko Samed was suffering from a large outbreak of food poisoning when I was there-especially down along any of the beachside restaurants so I began searching for decent safe... More
