Had lunch here recently with my husband. Really bad value. Himself had the ribs which cost€10.40. If there was 2ozs of meat in them that was all They were served with. ,,nothing. Not even a leaf of lettuce. I had the so called cream of chowder which was tasteless and watery. It is places such as Merrys that give Ireland...

Food is usually very good, but it can be a bit inconsistent. I usually go for one of the specials and these rarely disappoint. The owner/manager behind the bar is an absolute pleasure, always full of life.
I've eaten here many times and consistency is not a strong point.
One few occasions I've been very happy with my choice. The most recent time I visited, I ordered what only could be described as a bucket of mushroom risotto that I doubt even a horse could finish. While being a very large portion, it really lacked any flavour...

I'm a local in Dungarvan and a regular in Merry's where I enjoy the wonderful food, reasonable prices and friendly service. Added to this a recent experience would rate Merry's even higher for me. Visited this pub during the week after hearing about it through Irish Restaurant Awards 2013. Received a lovely warm welcome. The table service from the waitress was second to none. Food was well presented, fresh and delicious. Easy to see why this place won Best Gastro Pub in Munster - great food and wonderful warm atmosphere. Will be back !

Went to Dungarvan for the Food Festival in a torrent of rain and lashing wind.
Merrys Gastro pub was a haven of shelter, with a great welcome, a fire in the corner, and a clever menu for a festival. I had to sample the Potted Pig in a lovely annex room where the walls are lined with mugs, jugs and...
