Description: The vibrant contemporary Hawaii regional cuisine of George “Chef Mavro” Mavrothatlassitis, winner of the prestigious James Beard Award, is influenced by his native Provence. AAA Five Diamond rating; Hawaii's only 18/20 Gayot and Top 40 U.S. Restaurants. Dining at Chef Mavro is truly a special & unique experience. Nothing is ala carte - rather choose between a three, four, or six course meal or treat yourself & your party to the Grand Degustation which features all of our dishes, served in tasting portions for the table. Instead of a wine list, every menu selection is presented with a wine pairing offered by the glass. This casually elegant dining room, accented in original Hawaii art and seating 68, is popular for romantic occasions, business gatherings and all celebrations. Lauded by Gourmet Magazine as “where we would eat if we had only one night” in Honolulu, the restaurant is also their top pick in the city for “conducting business.” We welcome children 5 & older.

I was a little nervous about going to Mavro after reading some of the reviews here. However, while it certainly was expensive (we knew this going in) it was also a real treat, one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. The friendly staff gave us just the right amount of personal attention... More

Chef Mavro provided the best dining experience I've had in years! The menu is prix fixe and you have a choice of number of dishes (three, four and I don't remember the rest). We dined here for a special occasion. The service is top-notch, where they were knowledgeable and answered our questions about the dishes with patience. The food is... More

I am a foodie and love to try new restaurants during vacation. I am a vegetarian (no meat, not fish) but I do eat dairy. I am allergic to soy/tofu so it's always fun to see what a chef can create for me. I loved every course at Chef Mavro! I started with their Champagne tasting followed by their 6... More

This is wonderful restaurant. We tried the 3 course dinner and were very impressed with the creativity of the chef. The ingredients were fresh and tasted wonderful, and the presentation was beautiful. The wait staff was friendly and very helpful. We will definitely return when we visit Honolulu again. More

We doubled our party numbers at the last moment, which they addressed immediately and with no problem. The food is creative and wonderful. The wine list was the best we experienced in Hawaii and service excellent. It really was a lovely and memorable evening. More

Went to this restaurant 2 days ago. Very underwhelming for the price. We had a party of six and even though they only have 4 different options (3,4,6,or 11 course), they could NOT figure out our order. We did make some substitutions but I felt like they should have just said something if it was going to be too much... More

The service was friendly and completely unpretentious. The menu is relatively free of the fussiness of many high-end restaurants. The chef seems to rely more on the freshness of the ingredients and precision of his technique than the need to impress diners with flashy, assertive dishes. This makes for a very pleasant change from some high-end restaurants where one is... More

What an amazing place! After moving to the island, my girlfriend and I decided to treat ourselves with a nice dinner. The folks at Chef Mavro were welcoming, kind and really knowledgeable about each dish, the wines and the community as a whole.  We had their four course, vegetarian with wine pairings and the best way to sum it up... Went for dinner with friends, turned out to be an unpleasant experience. Food weird and completely underwhelming. Cheap food quality made to look vaguely 'interesting' with expensive price tags. A glass of red wine was underfilled and ridiculously expensive. Restaurant lacks any ambience, not sure why anyone would give this place a good review for any aspect, perhaps they have... More

My wife and I dined at Chef Mavro years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary: We recall it as being a wonderful dining experience. I wish I could share the same type of experience on this review, ...but I can't. Our wait staff informed us that we were indeed fortunate to be dining that evening, as it was apparently the... More
