Ala is closing at the end of the month. He will do catering but this wonderfull eating experience is going the way of so many in the hard times of resesions. He will be missed but even more the restaurant that has been around for 5 decades of different owners. Byob and casual open quisine are the makings of "do... More

We live on Oahu. We used to go to this restaurant for dining before Blaisdell events. Food was OK but always a bit pricey. Nevertheless, we decided to give it another try. We tried three times to call for reservations, left two messages on two separate days and in four days time never got a return phone call. We tried... More

The only drawback is a $15 taxi ride from Waikiki, but the BYOB wine with only a $5 corkage fee more than makes up for the taxi. Excellent service and fantastic salads and escargot. Great bread. I loved the half rack of lamb, five pieces and the dover sole that my wife had was wonderful......dessert was fantastic, a double chocolate... More

Our party of six had dinner here before the show at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. They offer a short menu on concert nights. I had the escargot with garlic and parsley butter for an appetizer. Then the Salade de tomato, which had very fresh and very tasty tomato slices with toasted walnuts, crumbled bleu cheese and a honey vinaigrette dressing.... More

We enjoyed another great meal at Le Guignol last night! I always have their Salad Lyonnaise and we also sampled the Sweetbreads as a starter (there were 7 of us) and the Escargot. I selected the Pork Belly Confit paired with white beans and grapes (it paired beautifully with a 2005 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir) while the Mrs selected... More

I like this restaurant, but we don't frequent it much. Great location by the Blaisdell Concert Hall, with free parking in the evening...make sure you have reservations! THE BAD NEWS: Food took forever to come out (we were there 3 hrs) - there were 2 large groups, & the restaurant was full....bring your own wine & enjoy the evening! Escargot... More

Le Guignol is a casual French restaurant tucked away in the corner of a medical building in downtown Honolulu. Located near the concert hall you would absolutely pass by the entrance without ever noticing it. That would be a mistake. Le Guignol is a true gem on the dining landscape of Honolulu, typically dominated by the overcooked Mahi Entrée of... More

I actually liked the food when I came here some time ago, but after making a reservation on three different occasions and being told upon arrival: "We don't have a reservation for you" I decided to give it a miss, even though I enjoyed my meals here on the one time my reservation was actually acknowledged. I also attend cultural... More

For months, a friend of mine was raving about a French restaurant that he has been going to for years and insisted that my wife and I try out Le Guignol. Now, the sound of French food did not excite me as I had my own map about this kind of cuisine - heavy, rich, etc. But to get him... More
