The management at the Halekulani, the hotel in which La Mer resides, shows no Aloha to its guests or prospective guests. For a true Hawaiian experience eat at Michel's or The Hau Tree Lanai. More

One of the few places in Hawaii that still requires a jacket for men (leather doesn't qualify) but if you forget yours, they'll find one for you. Food has always been world class and so is the tab! More

As far as food goes, this is one of the better French restaurants in Hawaii. If you add in the location, service and VIEW, it is the best. I had a great experience from the beginning to the end of the meal. It is the perfect spot for a romantic evening with your significant other. More

La Mer is a wonderful restaurant, absolutely fantastic. Beautiful setting overlooking Waikiki beach (be sure to request a window table), there's a cooling breeze almost always blowing in off the ocean and the service is immaculate. It is expensive so be prepared for that but definitely well worth the experience. I would dine there over and over again. More

Best restaurant in Honolulu. You know you're about to have a gastronomic experience when they wheel the menus to your table on a serving cart. More

Went to La Mer for my 65th birthday and they made sure it was a special event. But the "specialness" was not tied to any birthday hoopla but simply excellent service and attention to detail. After making reservations a couple weeks in advance they called the day before to confirm that I had "a beautiful oceanfront window" awaiting me. The... More

Old-time Hawaii... the dining room is rustic and reminds me of "good ole Hawaii". Great romantic atmosphere... pricey, but an outstanding place for special occasions or a romantic getaway. Exceptional food and service and great wine list. First rate local seafood and veggies. Order the two (one appetizer) or three (two appetizer) course meal... wonderful appetizer and main-course selection. Request... More

We originally were seated at the Halukilani upstairs for dinner but realized the prices were WAY expensive and it was a bit deserted! So we walked directly below to La Mer and got the exact same view with a less stuffy service. Wonderful food, romantic atmosphere and great value. More
