I am reposting my less than good experience here. A friend & I went in the early spring/late winter - this was our second visit and had a HORRIBLE meal here, The tenderloin was so tough I could barely eat it. The service was terrible and the options on the menu rather limited. The warmed nuts and the drinks were... More

I went here 2 times during my stay in Newport. It was a great cafe, with tasty food, good service and funky decor. Highly recommend.

A great recommendation from a local Newport resident, we hit this place up for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was a full house! The decor is eclectic, and the bar/restaurant has a great atmosphere. A reprieve from the nearby touristy places. You can stop by and just grab drinks at the bar, or have the full dining experiencing... More

Thanks so much for your thoughtful review. I'm always psyched when a Chicagoan gives us a great review since your city has such a rich restaurant culture. We are working on the dumplings and hope to either improve them or swap them out for something better. More

This place was recommended by our daughter, who told us about the great kale Caesar salad. What a cute place this was--very eclectic with a friendly feeling. We chose to sit in the back restaurant area as it was quieter than the front, which had booths and a bar & was a little too noisy for me. The decor caught... More

Thanks for taking the time to give us a good review. Sorry about the ribs, we have been transitioning from the winter to the summer menu and extremely underestimated the demand for the new dish . After we ran out on Saturday night, we weren't able to receive a fresh delivery of meat until Monday. We hope we can make... More

I have to say walking in I was kind of like, "cool - a little trendy and retro - it's a nice vibe" but I had no idea the food would be AMAZING. We started the night with terrific drinks. Mine had jalapeno in it and blew me away - I loved it! Our meal was mixed with Asian, Italian,... More

Being a tourist town, it was nice to visit a more local location! The atmosphere was beautiful and our entrees were delish and had great flavors. However the appetizer we had was not that great, the salmon dumplings. Rather fishy, but overall very good!!

Hello and thanks for trying Salvation. I'm sorry about your experience with the salmon dumplings. We make them daily from the trim (the salmon belly) of the salmon we butcher and serve as an entree. I'm not sure what made them unsatisfactory that day but I've been reviewing the process ever since you pointed it out. I hope we can... More

If you are visiting Newport you should make the trek from Thames street up to Broadway and give Salvation a try. The atmosphere is really unique. There is a tiki vibe going on and 80's music playing in the front dining area. The menu is limited but offers some creative selections at reasonable prices. The pad thai is outstanding and... More

Good service. Calamari had nice batter. Portion could have been bigger. Comes with wasabi mayo but not my thing. Shortrib burger surprised me. I thought it would taste like rib meat but really just seemed like a regular burger. Fries were tasty but little pieces. I don't know why another reviewer raved about the sangria. Seemed watered down. Nothing bad... More

I'm really sorry that you were underwhelmed. Not sure what to say about the shortrib burger, to me it's kind of about the texture. You sparked a big debate about the fries which are handcut daily and each order is tossed with seasoning, the problem being that they may not be as consistent as a frozen product. If we aren't... I recently held a surprise birthday party for 50 people in the barn function room upstairs (early March). Salvation helped make the process of planning the party so easy. I was impressed from start to finish. I chose to hold the party at Salvation because of the private party room. I did not have much time to devote to decorating,... More
