I have to admit, I am a little torn here. On the one hand, this place deserves to have its praises sung from mountain tops, but the selfish side of me would rather not share this gem. I guess the altruistic side is winning out today. So why so special? This is probably the best restaurant in Texas. Unlike so... More

Both my husband and I really like mussels and tried La Frite on our recent business trip to San Antonio. Not terribly Impressive on the outside..a storefront. Initially not too impressive on the inside either but it works. We were warmly received and seated when we arrived for an early dinner. We were just about the first guests for the... More

In a city where you can a taco or enchilada every 10 feet, discovering La Frite several years ago was a welcome relief. I highly recommend La Frite to anyone, local or visitor. Set in a space south of the Alamo, La Frite will take provide a wonderful dining experience. The staff, service and menu are first rate. They offer... More

This place is awesome. The food and the service were amazing. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly. My wife had the mussels which she said were the best she ever had. Get the croquettes as an apetizer. The croquetes were so good I got a to go order to take back to the hotel for a snack. Great... More

This Belgian bistro is fantastic. The fries were excellent (as one would hope) and the mussels were phenomenal (I chose the traditional white white, cream, garlic). Great beer choices (had Karmeleit on tap - very good). Service was very good. Highly recommend this place, especially as a Tex-Mex alternative. More

It's not too often that I branch out from my usual in my own city but I gave this place a chance and was impressed at first. I was impressed by the delicious food-- I got the mussels in white wine with chorizo and it was amazing! I was impressed by the low-lit, warm feeling of the establishment. NOT SO... More

We started with the Beligian fries and Basque Moules-- a bowl of mussels spiced with Spanish chorizo, white wine, chilli and red peppers! Then for the the Vol au Vent fruits du mer--seafood delight and the Duck--Magret du Canard! Finish off your meal with a glass of port and a German bitter and some desserts also left of center!! How... More

Went here on a suggestion, and lunch was incredible! Had a mushroom crepe and frites which left me wanting to lick the plate from the sauce. Had a very nice side salad with it also. The setting was comfortable and the waiter was very attentive. Easily walked from downtown, 15 minutes. Knew it was a hit when I realized that... More

My wife and I went to this restaurant while in San Antonio after seeing it on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The mussels were the best we have ever had and the lump crap crepe was rich and delicious. Prices were reasonable and our waiter was friendly, informant and attentive. More
