My wife and I have been to the other two La Parrilla Suiza's in Tucson and decided to try the one closest to home in Marana, AZ. As we walked in for dinner, I noticed the complete lack of a festive atmosphere normally found in a Mexican restaurant. Right away we were turned off. My wife opted for a chicken... More

Great margaritas and fajitas. Nice atmosphere, but service a little slow as waiters had to make drinks as there was no bartender. More

We waited 15 minutes for a table when open ones were in view. Once seated, the waiter was nice eough, but didn't bring water when other drinks were served. Some of the food was tasty (tortilla soup, charro beans) but most came to the table lukewarm, and the beans were downright COLD!! What struck me as most horrifying was that... More

I expect to find good Mexican food close to the border in Tucson, but seem to find better food in Portland (where I live). This is the best food I've had in Tucson (Mexican or not), but it is still nothing spectacular. My boyfriend seemed to get food poisoning from this place, as well. Overall, the food was good and... My wife and I had lunch here and were quite pleased. We lived for years in southern New Mexico and really love Mexican food. The food here at La Parrilla was well prepared Mexican food, but I'm not sure it's authentic Mexico City style (whatever that is). In any event, I had Mole which I have dearly missed and this... There is nothing special about this place. It attracts hoards of people, and it's food is almost institutional. Nothing horrible, but it's not anything you can't get in your home town, wherever you live. Don't waste your time here. It's Tex Mex (not "authentic food from Mexico City" as advertised). It probably won't make you sick, but it will be... More

La Parilla Suiza apparently has several locations in Tucson and Phoenix. (I ate at the one on Ina Road in Tucson.) It features Mexico City-style cuisine that is different from the usual tacos and burritos of northern Mexico, particularly in that the meats are grilled. (The name is supposed to mean "The Swiss Grill".) My combination grill had steak, excellent!... More
