Went to Frida Bistro for an early Mother's Day dinner with my wife and daughter (because, you know, that whole everything is closed on Sunday in Utah thing). We'd heard great things about the place and were not disappointed. We had two appetizers (duck tacos and lamb quesadillas), entrees (beef short ribs, lamb chops, and a beef tenderloin) and two... My daughter and I selected Frida Bistro months ago for a party celebrating her college graduation. We were able to get a private table in the small area near the bar that had originally been the owner's office. Once we were in that room, the staff took over and brought us plates of various appetizers while explaining the differences between... More

This was actually my third time at Frida Bistro but the first time was cut short by a mechanical problem with the exhaust fan. How disappointing to have to leave without sampling their wonderful dare. My next two trips made up for that unfortunate first effort. Appetizers, entrees, the wonderful selection of margaritas and Gretchen, a delightful wait-person entertained four... More

Just returned from a fun lunch at Frida's. Have eaten there both lunch and dinner numerous enjoyable times. I have liked most every meal and have tried much of the menu but my consistent favorites are the blue corn meal calamari... crisp not greasy with a bit of zing and the halibut tacos which are so light they almost melt... Visited two times, once with family, once bringing business associates, one of whom is gluten-free. The menu was almost completely gluten-free. The server was charming, knowledgeable, helpful, cheerful and unobtrusive. Even my guests commented on how professional she was. The food, alas, while good, cannot be said to be great -- the appetizer was delicious, but my scallops were buried... More

This past Saturday was St. Patrick's Day. Judy & I were invited to our daughter's home for the traditional corned beef, cabbage and potatoes on Sunday, 3/18, so we decided to 'try something different' for dinner on Saturday. One of my pals told me about a restaurant in SLC called 'Frida Bistro'. He said that he and his wife go... More

I went to Frida's the first time with a group of work colleagues and really enjoyed the place. So much so that I went back again this weekend with friends. The food this time was fine. Our table was in the middle of the restaurant and was FREEZING. It was also in a high traffic zone so we had to... More

This is nothing like the typical cheesy. runny refried beans Mexican meal. The food is fresh and different. The artwork inside the restaurant is great. The service was excellent. More

Their take on Mexican dishes is very original and quite tasty. In a shall we say funky neighborhood the place exudes cool. Cool doesn't come cheap in Salt Lake, though. More

I had the halibut Veracruz, which was very good, but at $27 I thought it as too expensive (for a Mexican restaurant). I was excited about the margarita list, but wasn't wowed by the execution. In the future, I'll go back to Red Iguana, which always hits it out of the park. More
