Wonderful dining experience from the service to the food. My boyfriend & I got the smoked wagyu sirloin steak & the cast iron chicken. The steak was cooked perfectly & the smoked flavor was utterly amazing. The chicken was one of the most tender I've had in a restaurant with a nice thin crispy skin. The kitchen was very sensitive... I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant! What I liked: -Loved the corn bread and pork dish – tasted absolutely southern but just had a slight different twist of sophistication -The ginger beer tastes like what my grandma used to make – we ordered extra ! -Very simple, but classy décor -Thought the water jar glasses were cute -Obviously... My friend and I decided to have our "fancy dinner out" at this restaurant and were not disappointed. Every menu item looked fantastic, but we eventually settled on cornbread to share, the steak for her and a couple of appetizers (duck stew and lamb scrapple) for me. The flavors were excellent and the portions good - not tiny, not overwhelming.... More

Great restaurant, a quaint place in high tech Kendell Square. On street parking more miss than hit so park at the Kendell Square Cinema. Your cost is $5.00 with validation. I joined a friend to celebrate his birthday. No reserverations and we ate in the bar. Friendly, knowledgeable, wait staff. Great wine recomendation. I had the catfish and crawfish very... More

Well prepared, whimsical southern cuisine. Was fortunate to grab a table on a random cold Tuesday night. Have the shrimp and grits appetizer. It is so tasty that wn't want to share it with even your closest loved ones. The catfish with crawfish is also moist and delicious. The staff is passionate about food, wine and beers. Don't skip dessert.

Hungry Mother just won the Globe Munch Madness. Hard to know how much that is influenced by restaurants promoting themselves, but Hungry Mother has great food and certainly deserves to be in the top tier of any ranking of Boston-area restaurants. We've been there several times, and the food is generally wonderful. I've noticed a few reviewers commenting that the... More

I went here recently with friends and we had a great time. The food was delicious and the wait staff were friendly and professional. I told our waitress that I felt like I was in New Orleans. She told me her husband was the chef and trained there. The food was wonderful and I cannot wait to return. Too bad... More

Wife and I heard about this place on late notice and couldn't get in until 9:00 pm. Worth the wait. Quirky but stylish atmosphere. Great food and very usual (somewhat limited) menu. We each ordered something we normally would not have ordered, but both enjoyed the meal and experience wry much. Definitely made the trip special. Highly recommend it!

The fish special was really good, but everything else on the plate was pretty average. I tried the famous cornbread, but is was dry and tasteless. The peppermint chocolate dessert was strong on mint and weak on chocolate. The service was good but not special. Overall, a good experience here, but I felt every plate missed the target a little.

I had heard great things about this restaurant and was excited to finally make it there for a nice dinner out. Having lived in Atlanta for five years, I looked forward to creative Southern food. What we ended up with was overpriced food that did not even taste good. The appetizers were ok but not worth $14 for lamb that... More
