We were drawn to try out Canlis being fans of Top Chef Seattle. Wow - what a great choice this was!! Fantastic attention to every detail - wonderful ambience - and the food sent us into true bliss. From the wonderfully delicious Olive and Sea Salt dinner rolls, to the incredible angular flavor bursts from the Canlis Salad, the subtle... More

The attention to detail on everything is exquisite. The waiter (a shout-out to Matthew) waxes poetic in his descriptions of each component of the food and its relationship to the other elements on the plate. Sounds pretentious, but it's not, it's a true love of fine food and an appreciation for nuances that make it special. Their Wagyu tenderloin is... More

We visited Canlis on mothers' day, unfortunately they were not offering a tasting menu since they are not usually open on a Sunday but we were definitely not disappointed with what we ordered. The food was quite simply beautifully prepared, there was nothing pretentious about this place at all, they're very good at what they do and they know it.... More

I went with a group of friends and we ordered and shared many dishes. The pork belly with huckleberry sauce was delicious. Both the spring pea soup and sauteed mushrooms were good but were something I could have made as well at home. The crab cake was almost all crab but the sauce was bland. Halibut was perfectly cooked and... More

This is a full-service restaurant if I have ever been to one. From the time we pulled up in our taxi, until we left, the staff was attentive and accommodating. The meal was impeccable and service was second to none. The view of the lake is lovely! Glad to have experienced this while in Seattle and have no doubt why... More

We had high hopes for this restaurant as many locals and reviews highly recommend this one. We went there for our 10th anniversary. It is one of the very few (or should I say, the only one restaurant?) that has a dress code in the greater Seattle area. We want a romantic dinner so we chose this one over the... More

A group of 35ish year old women flew to Seattle for a girls weekend. One member of the group is a total foodie and had predetermined that we HAD to try Canlis. SInce she is notorious for choosing excellent restaurants we obliged and the reservation was booked 2 months in advance. We dressed up in heels and party dresses and... More

Enter into this former house, now restaurant, and you enter into a magical world of perfect food theatre. The food alone is worth the travel (slightly outside of downtown Seattle) and the advanced reservation (if you're planning on traveling to Seattle - make sure you book in advance or you'll have the 9:45 seting - which will be too late... I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid , it use to be this place where our parents took us and we would get dressed up and be on our best behavior. At that time they only had women servers and they all dressed in original Japanese Kimono's. I miss that part of Canlis History and... More

I honestly don't have sufficient words to aptly describe this unique dining experience whilst in Seattle last year. My very dear friends treated me to an evening here - I honestly couldn't believe how exceptional everything was - way beyond my wildest expectation - service, ambiance, friendliness of everyone including the parking staff - who didn't, I might just ad,...
