The concept is unique. 7 dishes served all at once. The problem is that the dishes really don't compliment each other. So what you get are a lot of individual small dishes. The best example of this was the piece of naan in the center of the plate. None of the dishes had a good sauce of it, so it... More

My wife and I and two friends ate here last week as part of the Seattle restaurant week. It is definitely a very trendy place with very complex menu items... if you're in to that sort of thing, you may like this restaurant; I however was not impressed and had we not gotten the discounted price of the restaurant week... Had an enjoyable evening here. The food is very creative and I like what they are trying to do here. The restaurant was quite lively for a Monday evening, however we had no trouble getting seated. The decor is sort of stripped back minimalist chic I suppose, but doesn't quite hit the mark & looks a little ikea. Not to... More

After three years of eating here, this place remains as good and fun as when it first opened. It is easily one of Seattle's best, most interesting restaurants. One we always recommend to out of towners. I do not like egg plant under any guise. Poppy's egg plant fries are shockingly good. Other appetizers are always appealing and get ignored... More

Unfortunately I have to agree to ALL the negative reviews. The hostess, while prompt in seating us, was indifferent. Our table server, the very tall one, was rude. The only server who had a sweet smile was a slightly chubby lady who brought our thalis out & gave good description of the dishes. Deco had a very Ikea-feel. The wait... More

Who wouldn't like a variety of small dishes with different yet cohesive flavours? That's what you get at Poppy. Nice atmosphere, good service, and thoughtful food creations. More

Poppy's was quite puzzling. Though not my first visit, it will be my last. A friend and I ordered the vegetarian Thalis and neither of us finished our tray. My main dish of ricotta dumplings with nettles and sun choke chips was HORRIBLE. I was anticipating soft creamy dumplings and what I got was tubular, bland,less-than-silky something or other. The... I enjoyed their naan with poppy/nigella seeds. i had ordered a vegeterian thali, and enjoyed all the 8 items in it. But the thali with the duck entree had nothing to dip the naan in which was bit of odd. But their menu changes every week, so there is lots of choices to try from. Its may feel a bit... More

This restaurant serves a very interesting (fusion) menu in a traditional Indian (Asian Indian) format - the Thali. Thalis have a big plate with your primary carbs in the center and small little bowls of different dishes around the edges of the big plate. We found that 1 big Thali was plenty for 2, especially if you order appetizers and... More
