Description: Experience the beauty of the Pacific Ocean at The Fish Hopper Seafood and Steak, overlooking Kailua Bay on the Big Island Hawaii. Enjoy fresh seafood from Hawaii and fresh seafood flown in weekly from California, plus our signature Bucket of Fire and Volcano flaming drinks, all within walking distance to shops and historic sites. A landmark (formerly the Ocean View Inn) and a local’s favorite Kona restaurant since 1934, the building housing The Fish Hopper has been beautifully restored to expand upon its spectacular ocean views. We proudly serve seafood from sustainable sources, harvested by methods that do not harm the environment.

The location of this place is good, nice view across a not-so-busy road. Not far from where we rented so we enjoyed the convenience. The food was just average, the cocktails below average. We had Mahi-Mahi's, Ahi tuna and few other kid's dishes. We were two couples with kids and that kept us fairly busy - maybe that took away... More

Right on the seafront near the top end of the promenade this restaurant has tables on the balcony with great views of the sunset and the ocean. There is a wide selection on the menu with daily specials depending on the catch that day. The staff are very friendly and we got good service. Busy around sunset but the food... More

While looking for a spot for a late breakfast, we tried the Fish Hopper at the north end of town. I had breakfast and my wife had lunch. My omelet was great and my wife said her sea food salad was also. It wasn't too busy when we came in, but by the time we left the lunch crowd started... More

I have been going to Fish Hopper for years - Atmosphere is exceptional and so is the decor. Always clean and comfortable seating, and the staff is always friendly. The food comes out fresh and is presented well. Ample parking in back.

We had dinner here a couple of weeks ago. We should have guessed it's standard by comparing the number of diners packing a nearby restaurant, with this one - both with great water views. We were disappointed by the lacklustre service - hardly noticing us when we arrived, but even less impressed when our meals arrived. My wife's burger was... More

We originally tried this restaurant for lunch because it was across the street from the hotel. We ended up back for dinner the next night. The food was fresh, delicious and attractively served. I liked that they had the specials displayed so I could get an idea of portion size (enough to share). For dinner with another couple, we ordered... More

We have been coming to Kona for many years and The Fish Hopper is always good. Whether is for lunch or a fine dinner, the Fish Hopper delivers what you are looking for. The mainlander hamburgers are huge, juicy and a real treat. The seafood is fresh, cooked to perfection, and served in tasty combination with other side dishes. The... More

We went here because so many people said it was awesome---don't think this is where they actually went. The food sounded fabulous, too bad it did not live up to it's sound. The service was pretty mediocre. The server brought dessert by when my husband was in the restroom--why wouldnt she wait until he was there also?? View was nice.

Yes, it is a tourist attraction, however, sitting at the closest table across from the ocean was a good experience. We ate lunch there on a Sunday and the streets were bustling with fairs, "strolls" and chaos. The staff was friendly and the service was good. We weren't rushed and the food was good. I recommend it for the combination... More

This restaurant has a primo location with great view of Kailua Bay, Kailua Pier and downtown shoreline. At any time, you can view swimmers, outrigger canoes, paddleboarders, commercial boats, cruise ships, etc. in the bay while you drink or dine. If possible, it is best to get a table by the open windows which face the street and the bay... More
