The food is fantastic, really really fantastic.... But the service was terrible. It was almost a joke how bad it was. The waiter comes out and introduces himself and the bus boy to you like you are going to be taken care of then it all goes down hill from there. If you have all the time In the world... More

Decor nice, but hate the red checked table cloths (YUK), plus uniforms made me feel like I was at a Jersey diner. Remoulade dressing was excellent, nice French loaf, gumbo done right, but felt not enough selection - price wise for lunch crowd. I did enjoying going there despite not getting a bank loan before lunch

It had been a few years since we had been in New Orleans and eaten at the Bon Ton Cafe. YOu never know how things may change over the years but this restaurant was as good as we remembered. My wife having grown up on the MS coast has high expectations for seafood and Creole cooking. We both had shrimp... More

On a recent trip to New Orleans, we took friends who live there, but had never visited the Bon Ton. The menu is varied, and a combination of creole/cajun and steaks. A speciality of the house is their crabmeat au gratin 2 of the group had this dish and loved it. Another had the redfish topped with crabmeat. I had... More

Eight of us dined here prior to a fishing trip. Incredibly, the waiters kept track of all our orders and even got 8 bills correct at the end!! At our end, everyone ordered the crawfish bisque which is delicious--it is really a gumbo, roux type soup with a large stuffed crawfish head (which needs to be opened and eaten) and... More

Great food, quality is excellent, menu offers many choices without being overwhelming. The staff & service is typical New Orleans & very efficient. Seafood is always the first choice...

Tis restaurant is highly rated on Trip Advisor and by my hotel. I found it to be the worst meal I've had in New Orleans in a long time. The highlight was the gumbo, which is superb. For my main course I ordered redfish Bon Ton, which was accurately clarified to be drum, not redfish. Wile it was a nice... More

I had never eaten crawfish étouffée and Bon Ton was often recommended on Tripadvisor as serving one of the best in NOLA, hence our choice of this restaurant. Unfortunately the dish left me somewhat underwhelmed. While the crawfish were fresh and nicely cooked, the dish was quite bland and seemed under seasoned. That being said, the turtle soup that preceded... More

We were in Nola for the 2nd weekend of jazzfest and on Friday night after the Fest we decided a proper meal and cocktails was needed. We have passed the Bon Ton many times and it was already on our list of places to dine when in town but we had never been there. The fact that we are usually... More

Bon Ton Cafe is the best of the (admittedly, small number of) New Orleans restaurants that I've tried. It's located just outside the French Quarter, in a large, high-ceilinged room that looks very traditional; as does the menu. The three dishes I tried were all excellent, and reasonably priced: a very tasty shrimp/okra gumbo; the crayfish jambalaya, savory and moist,... More
