The food is great and the milkshakes are even better. We had chocolate and mint. The kids wanted to go back the next day.
After two different locals recommended this one, we just had to try it. This was worth the 20 mile drive up the Gunflint Trail. Our waitress was friendly and fun. She obviously loved her job and every customer could tell! The food was great and prices were very reasonable. The crowd appeared to be locals and tourists visiting the area.
We were up here on our honeymoon! The service and food was EXCELLENT! We were looking for somewhere good to eat on an evening out and asked around. We got a couple of suggestions and the place most people up on the trail suggested is the Trail Center! We tried it and ended up going there on both night outs.... More
We visited for lunch on a rainy Monday, and had excellent service! Yummy cheese curds with their own bbq sauce, an open faced chili cheeseburger & fries, and some nachos. Nice selection of food items on the menu - it was hard to choose. Their own homemade chili would have been awesome with some bread, after having it on my... More
Not sure that there ARE malts elsewhere on the trail but why look when you can get them at Trail Center. Lunch was excellent too: great portion size, lots of options, plenty for the kids to like too. The grocery store even had a boxed cobbler-making kit to help us use up all the wild blueberries we picked further up... More
We stayed on Gunflint Trail & ate dinner twice at Trail Center. Both times the waitresses were friendly & the food appeared very quickly! The dinner salads with our meals were huge & the salad dressings were excellent. I had the 1/2 rack of BBQ ribs in their special sauce (meat soo tender, it fell off the bones) & broiled... More
Very interesting tavern and restaurant. The food was well prepared and good service. I enjoyed all the pictures and memorabilia on the walls.
Always a good meal at a reasonable price. The only problem is everybody else knows this too, so sometimes you need to wait for a table.
I've lived in Grand Marais since 1985 and travel quite a bit for my business. When I fly into a new city I have no idea where to eat so I consult Tripadvisor but more importantly, I talk with as many hotel employees as I can and ask where they like to eat...the locals always know where the best food... We were staying at the Clearwater Lodge and came here for lunch and dinners that were not provided at our lodge. The food here was great. My wife is a pretty picky eater and she was very satisfied with the selection here. They also have some pretty good beers. Lastly, we purchased some great dried foods for backpacking here as... More
