We spotted this place on TripAdvisor and decided the best way to end out the day (after an OK diner at a Greek place across from the Eastern State Penitentiary) was to hit up "The Franklin Fountain". We parked a few blocks away. Got close, and could see a line. No biggie - line moves at a decent pace. The... More

We were visiting Philly for the day and met an old friend here for ice cream (on her suggestion). It was a very cool building with some antique ice cream parlor furniture. However, the prices were very steep and they only accept cash! I ordered a hot fudge sundae and it was $8.50!!!!!! I was shocked when it was served... More

A great place for a yummy treat in Philly. Right when you walk in you feel like you just stepped back in time. The menu is incredible, various milk shakes, numerous sundae creations, and a whole list of home made ice cream flavors. Great place, fun experience.

This is a fantastic place to enjoy top quality ice cream, but the twist is that it's all retro styled as if you were back at the turn of the century. The staff have bow ties, waist coats, and the menu has flavours like teaberry (which tastes like something you'd rub on sore muscles, except delicious) and there are drinks... More

My best friend and her boyfriend go to Thomas Jefferson University and brought me to Franklin Fountain while I was up visiting. All 3 of us are ice cream addicts and this place was perfect! At first I thought the prices were slightly steep, but for the amount of ice cream that you get, it's definitely worth it! I will... More

The fountain of your dreams, especially if you dream of whipped cream, ice cream, banana splits, chocolate parfaits, and the like, all with fanciful names from Philadelphia history. There are pretty long lines in summer, but in the colder months you can just walk in and order.

I've been here twice and was not disappointed either time. The sundaes are huge and a true work of art. I love the classic ice cream/soda fountain shop feel the store has. The Franklin Mint is the best. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it.

The ice cream is okay, just okay. The staff are condescending and, if you're there on a crowded day, as we were, expect to be greeted with impatience and sharp words. When we pointed out that one of our sundaes had the wrong topping and the wrong flavor ice cream, we were stared down with angry looks from behind the... More

It was 55 degrees outside and there was still a line going out of the building. I can only imagine how long the line is during nice weather. Anyway, we finally got our ice cream and I must say, it was the best ice cream I've ever had. After the first bite I was ready to finish it while I... More
