Matyson is a very tiny BYOB where we partook of the Asparagus menu this monday. Asparagi in everything-including dessert! Every dish was very well made, with interesting contrasts in texture and flavour. Only reason for not 5 stars was the size of the portions. Slightly larger ones would be nice-and we did eat the offered bread. Good service. They even... More

The tasting menu on the Thurs. evening we were there was ambitious and maybe a little too contrived in both naming and matching semi-exotic combinations. The main menu is admirably limited to permit best preparation of what they do well -- sauces, reductions, and coulis are stellar. It's BYOB, so worth looking at the menu on line before you come... This was my second time at Matyson and it confirmed my opinion that it's a really good spot for dinner in the city. Being a fish eater, I'm very happy with the both the menu and the fact that the chef knows how to cook fish. I really dislike over-cooked fish and the salmon that I ordered came out perfectly... Hubby and I headed to Matyson because we wanted to get away and do something romantic and relaxing for the weekend. The traffic from where we live in Dover, DE into Philadelphia was a nightmare and we ended up being way late for our reservations but the nice girl at Matyson stayed in touch with us via the phone and... Really enjoyed this lovely BYOB restaurant, had the table d'hote and thought the selections were superb.

Rittenhouse (where I was) is conveniently located within a few minutes walk to Matyson, which recently installed a $35 prix fixe menu for Sunday nights. For this week, the theme was sea bass. I'm more of a salmon kind of guy, but what the heck, why not? We started off with two triangle shaped pieces of crispy polenta with mancheo... More

Went to Matyson on the recommendation of Matt from JoLe in Calistoga (thanks Matt!) This was probably our best restaurant experience in Philly so far. The service was perfect, attentive but not intrusive. This was a Saturday night and they were busy so very impressive execution! The food was so delicious, the mussels and fois gras appetizers were yummy! The... More

It is great place in French Quarter. Just short walk from Rittenhouse square, Matyson is small but stylish place with amazing food. Chef is very creative and every dish shows it. Duck breast is amazing, so were scallops. Desert does not disappoint either. Place is well worth the visit. Reservation a must

This review is for our recent Brunch experience at Matyson. Our past lunch and dinner experiences were all very good, so we wanted to try their brunch. The menu had just changed to some very fresh, interesting options, although not extensive. All the food we tried was very well prepared and tasty. The ingredients are good quality and done right.... Ate at Matyson as two couples in early April 2013. Went for the set tasting menu which made the most of seasonal produce. Best restaurant experience in a long time.
