Description: Artisanal Fromagerie, Bistro and Wine Bar showcases the formidable creativity and passion of Chef-Proprietor Terrance Brennan who adds playful twists to classic French bistro dishes. Selecting only premium ingredients, Brennan’s commitment to the use of artisanal, sustainable and organic products is evident in the quality of each dish. Recalling a bustling Parisian bistro, Artisanal’s handsome Art Deco interior offers the sophisticated French specialties one might expect in Paris. As the name implies, Artisanal features a scrumptious selection of 250 hand-crafted cheeses from around the world. In the back of the dining room is the cheese cave, a temperature and humidity controlled room, where a number of the world’s finest artisanally-made cheeses are aged to optimum ripeness and peak flavor. Adjacent to the dining room is the wine bar, which boosts 100 wines by the glass. There is also an on-premise cheese shop that attracts gourmands citywide.

I went to Artisanal recently with my hubby. The physical surroundings inside the restaurant are beautiful and the atmosphere is great (it is busy and lively). However, I thought the food was just ordinary. We had goats cheese salad for entree and it was really dry and there was very little goats cheese in it, mostly rocket. My main (fish)... More

They were happy to accommodate a reservation but then seated us next to the waiters station, across from a group of 20 and on the most uncomfortable banquette known to man. Hmmm. Fortunately, our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and the food came quickly and was divine. The maitre d checked on us 3 times. Barely finished the last bite... More

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants in New York, but on our last trip there, both a lunch and a dinner were disappointing. Service was poor, orders were not done correctly. My husband's "medium" pink/grey steak came basically bleeding, and the waitress was so surly and in such a bad mood that I ate his steak for... More

The have the biggest in terms of quantity and quality of cheese west of Italy and France. the manager and responsible for the cheese aspect of the menu is the most competent woman i have ever met. The steak is good... More

If you are a cheese lover or would like to became one, this is the place in Manhattan. More than 180 different cheeses from all over the world to be enjoyed together with a respectable wine selection. If you are in doubt to choose cheeses and wines the sommeliers are just perfect to offer you a good selection according to... More

It's been awhile since I've been to Artisanal, but I went last week with some friends and what a wonderful meal and good time we had. My very favorite dish was French Onion Soup. I'm picky about this dish. I like rich broth, perfectly cooked onions and luscious cheese. Artisanal delivered. Excellent! I also really like the gougeres appetizer. tiny... More

This was across the road from our poor hotel.. Cannot believe the 2 estabilishments are in the same place! This was excellent for food, service and we would definitely go back. The cheese platter was fantastic and the courses that followed, amazing. Brill attentive waiter, a gem of a restaurant that deserves to be found. Close to subway so easy... More

Went here for a late dinner and it was wonderful, as usual. The service was great and the cheese is to die for. It was Thursday after 9, but we never felt rushed. Whenever I go to NYC, I always make a point of eating here at least one night, and the bar is lovely. More
