We ate breakfast twice at the Cafeteria during our 5 day stay in NYC, and loved our experience each time. I call it an experience because not only is the food very good, but the wait staff is fun, very friendly and a little off-kilter and the people watching is fantastic. Both times I had the Monterey eggs w/ a... More

Recommended highly by my daughter and featured on the Food Network, we decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. The menu is very creative as is the presentation. Food was delicious, prices not bad at all for the amount of food that is served. Plan to SHARE a dessert! Unisex bathroom took a little getting used to, but... More

This used to be one of the must go places I suggest to out of town friends for great food and chic but unpretentious ambiance. Apparently, none of those qualities is valuable to its owners. Beware coming here after hours as the restaurant devolves into a sorry impersonation of a private club. Bouncers and not-prada-but-nada managers sashay like Anna Wintour... More

Ok the seating can be tight. The place can be noisy. The food is comforting and fun. Good salads. Fabulous mac and cheese. Share it if you have to but you must taste it. I had catfish the last time and it was delicious. My friend had the turkey burger and said it was incredibly moist. We laughed, had fun,... More

The seating, indoor and outside, is packed tight, like most of NYC. It's lively if you like people, and loud, if you don't. They've taken 'All American' favorites and updated them. The crew seems to enjoy their jobs, like the customers, and be having a good time in general. More

Killer mac and cheese - smoked gouda and cheddar was the bomb. Mac attack was good to share. I'd definitely have a hard time finishing it all since it was so rich. Country flatbread was also great - flatbread was really flavourful and soft. Great coffee. Place is clean and modern. More

We visited Cafeteria on our recent trip to NYC. We hadn't been in a few years. The food was just as delicious as our last visit! It was just my sister and I. We didn't have reservations, but only had to wait about 25 minutes on a Friday night at 8:30. I had the Braised Short Rib Tacos. The serving... More
