We have been going to this restaurant since 2000, and it remains as good now as it was then. Since Afghanistan borders five countries, its cuisine is influenced by Indian (Pakistani), middle Eastern (Irani), Chinese, and Russian (three "stans"--Uzbeki, Tajiki, and Turkmeni) food--deliciously so. We have tried many items on the menu and never been disappointed. Pleasant service and an... More

This place was horrible compared to other Afghan Restaurant. I am surprised people eat here. The appetizers bolanee over cooked. No potatoe inside. The Mantoo was disgusting the meat inside stuck together and came out from the dumpling skin. No yogurt sauce. The lamb curry was watery and was too spicy to be Afghani. It had like Pakistani Masala in... More

Lexington and Third below about 33rd offers some offbeat and reasonably priced dining choices and is a good area to head towards if you didn’t make already make reservations somewhere. Among the middle-eastern choices is Bamiyan which serves Afghani cuisine. Being a mountainous country Afghanistan’s cooking tends to be light on spice and heavy on less sumptuous ingredients such as... More

While visiting NYC, we wanted to try something different, so we chose Bamiyan Afghani restaurant. The atmosphere was welcoming and peaceful. Our waitress was attentive, but unobtrusive. We loved our food! The basmati rice was perfection. Our main dishes were reminiscent of Indian food, but with enough of a variation to make it something new and different. We had one... More

This was not the best Afghan food, I've ever eaten (for that, go to Helmand in Cambridge, MA), but it was good enough and offered some vegetarian dishes we had never tried before. That said, I can only comment on vegetarian side of the menu, which was quite ample. Appetizer portions are generous and seemed like a good value. We... More

A nice Afgani restaurant in New York City, a good place for a relaxed dinner or a business meeting. Food selection is good, with a decent selection of vegetarian dishes. I find the dessert menue limited. The interior design is pleasant and unique. Every time we visit, the quality of service varies widely, from very professional to really chaotic. For... More

Great food, very friendly staff, great service! Be certain to try the shir chai. Choice of tables or sitting on floor cushions. Enjoyed the music and sitting near the windows. More

A nice decent restaurant in the Murray Hill area of NYC. Good food though over the years the prices have gone up quite a bit and the servings have become slightly smaller. Very helpful staff who go out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our meal. More
