Description: Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

We wanted to eat on our last evening in New York a typical good American steak. And we did that. Love this restaurant. Nice atmosphere. The Filet minion was amazing and the sauce béarnaise very tasty. The mutton chop is huge, too huge for my taste but it was good. The French Fries were perfect. For the dessert we shared... More

"Old school" classic New York steakhouse. This was my 2nd visit, we were on the 3rd floor, the 1st time we sat on the ground floor.....I never realized this place was so big! Fantastic dining experience, all steaks cooked to perfection and served with an excellent red from the Napa Valley.

It is a very nice feeling that one is going for dinner to the oldest steak house in New York. It was established in 1870. It is very interesting to see the pipes collection there. Regarding the food we had halibut tartare and Mary land crab cakes. Both were superb. Their creamed spinach is very tasty. We ordered for the... More

When one attempts to define the classic old-school NYC steakhouse experience, one would reference this establishment. The place is overflowing with history and character. But most important, the food is excellent. On my most recent trip, I tried the 12 ingredient salad and would consider it one of the best appetizer salads that I have ever had. The steaks that... I always go here when my family are visiting, the food is delicious, I love the atmosphere and the heritage of the establishment. I is expensive but it's nice to have a treat once in a while.

I loved this place the first time I saw it on their website (check it out). I had come specifically to try the mutton but as soon as I saw it on the table next to mine I knew it would be too big for me, however they also do a "pub" version which isn't shown on the main menu... More

Rooms were amazing. Food was very good but. History and the stories that it told really celebrated the place. Seemed to be local. Make sure you check out the bar and request a table on the first floor. Room on 3rd floor intimate but walk up three flits of stairs was less than wonderful. Service good. Got a little delayed... Visited with my wife on our honeymoon. Food was excellent and even though expensive was worth it. Must book in advance as it was full on a Tuesday evening

My wife and I ate at Keens whilst on our trip to New York. It was certainly one of our highlights. The food was excellent, as was the service and the wine!! The restaurant is steeped in history and you get a sense of it from the moment you walk in. Attentive staff and a nice atmosphere made for a... More
