Description: Founded in 1908 by the Davino family Grotta Azzurra was named for the blue grotto on the isle of Capri and designed to evoke the beauty of one of the worlds most famous caves in the world, intensified. Enrico Caruso feasted here after performances, and Sinatra called it his one and only favorite Italian restaurant, making it the site of many a “Rat Pack” evening. Shuttered for six years, Grotta Azzurra has now been stunningly renovated and rebirthed by a descendant renaissance for dining in Little Italy, with multi-talented chef Frank Castellana recreating the finest in Italian Cuisine.

My daughter and I found this place on one of our trips to NYC. You can not miss it when walking through Little Italy. The service was excellent and lunch was awesome. We like many others have reviewed, did not notice the added 20% in the bill on our first trip. We enjoyed our lunch so much we continue to... More

Superb restaurant with excellent service. The fillet steak was huge at 14 ounces, and perfectly cooked. Don't miss this. More

Couldn't believe the value for a 2 course lunch - $9.95. It was excellent and it was nice to sit outside and people watch with a glass of wine. Th only complaint was the 20% they add to the bill - we didn't notice so ended up tipping twice. Al in all, the best vale we found in NYC though. More

We ate our lunch there attending a day tour of Gray Line. The group were seated seperatly from eachother, which was quite OK. The bread and drinks were served fast. The waitrers seemed busy and forgot my soft drink. The food was good. Beeing such a large restaurant I guess it is difficult not to get the impression that you... More

Seeing some of the reviews, I was hesitant. But we checked out the menu with the gentleman standing outside, and we decided to try it. We were NOT disappointed! The ambiance was beautiful and quiet, and the food was AMAZING. Considering this is homemade food and true Italian, the prices were very affordable! We happened to dine during weekly happy... More

We ate at Grotta Azzurra last weekend . We both had seafood and it was delicious. There are restaurants one right after another so we just picked this one because we had a restaurant.com coupon. We enjoyed it very much. Prices seem average. They do add 20% to the bill for gratuity so take note of that and don't tip... More

I have never in my life been so infuriated and disgusted visiting a restaurant to eat. A few of my girlfriends and I made a reservation here to have Sunday Brunch. We arrived about 15 mins early, we're seated and introduced to our waiter. There were only about two or three other tables being occupied at the time. Immediately we... More

It doesn't matter how excellent everything is - the feeling of being rooked leaves a bitter taste. The food, service, and athmosphere at Grotta Azzurra were .....OK. I must admit that I did enjoy the braciole and there was enough of it. My companion was less enthusiastic about the food. And one could not help the feeling of being "'on... More
