What a cute French restaurant!! I like sitting at the bar drinking $5 beers. You never know who you may see at Demarchelier!! I ran into Brian Ross, ABC News correspondent there!! Love the new bartender, Bella! I'll be back!!

This is my favorite stop for some French-style food when in the Upper East side, I went a few times over the years. I would usually get steak tartar and some wine, but last time opted for a prix fixe lunch, which included steak - and the steak was pretty excellent. Not the cheapest place to eat, then again it's...

We were recommended this by friends and it was exceedingly good. The atmosphere is a mixture of PAris and New York in the best way possible! The steak tartare and my partner's sole were very good indeed, and the wines were sensibly priced. The service was faultless and there were many locals eating there - always a good sign. You...

My boss was actually intending to go to Cafe Saborsky down the street, but it was closed so we wandered around looking for an alternative. At first I hesitated to go into Demarchelier because the prices were steep. But my boss is Belgian and he wanted to try some French food. Allons-y! The prices did not get any cheaper once...

The steak frites was just ok. The steak was raw but I ordered it medium rare and the fries were mostly tiny broken pieces with very few long fries in the pile. The coq au vin was made with chicken thighs with skins on and not rooster. The sauce was good but a bit rich for a lunch entree.

I had the frogs legs------ delicious. The wine list was extensive but we chose a $40 Malbec that was quite good. The service was a bit slow, but the bread was fresh and tasty enough to make the long wait bearable. The Saturday night clientele seemed to consist of locals mostly
"of a certain age". Overall a very pleasant experience.

We stopped at this restaurant after a visit to Metropolitan Museum. The setting is nice, copying a typical French Brasserie. We had no reservation and we got immediately a table.
We have chosen the express menu (Burger with fries, salad and a crème caramel). The food was good, even if the burgers were not cooked according to the order. Despite...

I have lived and worked around and in New York City for 38 years and this restaurant just hit a nerve as being relatively poor + overpriced and taking advantage of its location which is convenient to the Metropolitan Museum. A long writeup is not necessary -- service mediocre, food quality mediocre, price very high -- not a winning combination....sorry...

This uptown, small, comfortable french bistro style restaurant has been a favorite of ours for years, but this is the first time I have, finally, remembered to share it with our fellow tripadvisor travelers after eating there.
It is on East 86th street, between Madison and Park Avenues, and just a 3 block walk from the Metropolitan Museum of Art...
