I always wanted to try a gray's papaya hot dog in nyc especially after seeing "fools rush in" with salma hayak. What a huge disappointment they were. They were incredible small and tiny barely any meat. What is the hype all about. I would recommend just getting a hot dog from one of the stands on the street. Also, im... More

I recommend this over the carts. At least the prices are posted and you can place you soda at narrow counter space.

I wanted a true NYC hotdog. It was kinda dried out :/ The favors were okay but the texture was a bit tough. I might be spoiled because I live near Amish Country and our meats are especially plump and meaty. The papaya juice was okay- nothing to write home about. Standing room only $4.95 plus tax for two dogs... More

I've been eating Gray's Papaya dogs since I was a teenager. And that was a long time ago! If you're looking for a true NYC experience, then this is it. The "Recession Special" has been available since Reagan was in office and it's a deal that simply cannot be beat. 2 AMAZING hot dogs (I like mine a little well... More

This is by far the best hot dog i've ever eaten. This is a Must Stop by place to eat along with the many other eateries around town.

Gray's was recommended to us so we sought it out and bought the goods. Pretty tasty dogs, served piping hot on a crispy bun and amazing value but I'd have to stop there. Service was erratic to say the least and it is a shop rather than a cafe/restaurant, so don't expect a seat.

Good place to get a hotdog. The papaya juice is a must! My husband thought it was a nice griddled hotdog. I wouldn't wait in a long line for it however. A NYC street dog is just as good in my opinion.

A premimum hot dog without being too expensive on the wallet, at least for Manhattan prices. The food is delicious

We wanted to try this place from seeing it in the movies and hearing reviews. We were surprised that we liked them so much we wound up standing in line a second time to get more. There was absolutely NO seating...a stand as you eat or grab and go type of restaurant. Super cheap. Great topping options. It was a... More

I don't think it's possible for me to visit NYC and leave happy without going to Gray's. I grew up on the stuff, and now that I live a few hours away, coming to the city and hitting up Gray's is a special treat for me. Nothing has changed since the 70s, the "recession special" is, and shall probably always,... More
