The ambiance of Butter is excellent. It's a beautiful restaurant, with gorgeous ceilings and a nice atmosphere altogether. The hostess and wait staff were very friendly and service was great. We were very excited to try this restaurant, being huge Food Network fans of Alex (Executive Chef). I'm very sad to say that we were disappointed with this restaurant. We... More

As a big fan of Chef Alex G. (I watch Chopped!) I couldn't wait to go to her restaurant in the city, especially after seeing the great website photos and menu descriptions... We were seated in the upstairs dining room- gorgeous with vaulted ceiling, stunning mural, comfy booth. The menus transported me to "food heaven"...my friends and I enjoyed hearing... More

I carefully select the restaurants we visit each trip to NYC. This time, I had to try Butter because I just love Alex Guarnaschelli from the Next Iron Chef, Chopped, and a host of others. I was skeptical because of some mixed reviews. The day prior to the visit were were at a Jean-Georges restaurant and another world famous so... More

My husband and I are huge fans of Alex Guarnaschelli, so we decided to sample her restaurant. I love the long "tunnel" entrance that gives you a glimpse into what you are about to see. The arc of the ceiling is fantastic and at first glance looks like curved wood. Upon closer inspection as you are seated, you realize that... More

We visited Butter Restaurant after hearing lots of fantastic feedback about the establishment. We booked a reservation in advance and were seated immediately upon arrival. The atmosphere is extremely inviting and relaxing. Our table was off center and wobbled a bit and within 2 minutes of the arrival of the drinks, the inevitable happened and the drinks spilled all over... More

This place is very nice, the food was really good and the service was great - friendly, helpful land welcoming. We had some delicious "Butter" cocktails and some great wine. It is expensive, but that is what you get for a trendy restaurant in down town NY. If you are looking to splash out, it's worth a try. More

I hit up Butter while visiting a friend in NYC. We decided to splurge and try the chefs tasting menu with the wine parings. Dishes of note - the butternut squash soup (with popped corn), foie gras, duck with mission figs, and raspberry jam filled beignets were all amazing. Each wine paring truly elevated each dish. The most impressive thing... More

The restaurant has a great atmosphere. The decor is very inviting and they keep the lights down low. Our waiter paid extra attention to us and was extremely informative. We had the duck and the fluke for our entrees. They were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We did not order off of the dessert menu. They did not have anything... More

We went there as a family, the atmosphere was good and fits family, friends and romantic couples. The menu is interesting but not really rich. We chose to order only appetizers without the main dishes and it turns out to be a great decision. All the appetizers were superb and the soup of the day was excellent too. Must try... More

I'm not sure what some of the prior reviewers were talking about, but this was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had and it was mainly to do with the food. Everyone at my table was more than pleased with their orders - I had a ravioli special that was to die for, but my husband's duck was,... More
