Delicious mussels. Place does get crowed so was quite a wait but worth it. Don't miss the different kind of doughnuts for dessert, perfect after a big pail of mussels.
Brought my wife and daughter here for dinner during a recent visit to New York and what a great choice it turned out to be. We are mussel fans and this venue had every variety of preparation you could wish for. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere convivial, and the service both efficient and friendly. We will be back.
Service fab, food fab, atmosphere fab - only reason I gave a 4 is because the tables are a bit small for pots of mussels, drinks, bread etc otherwise it would have been a 5. Seriously good!!!
My boyfriend and I had an excellent time here at Flex. We split their fries and three orders of mussels - French onion, lobster bisque and the Thai preparation. Each bite was truly a delight. The bread was great and plentiful to soak up all the awesome broth. I cannot wait to return next time I am in NYC! We... More
Seating was a bit cramped, even for Manhattan, but the service was good. The fish/mussel specials were excellent and a nice addition to an already impressive list of mussel options. The wine list is very affordable and diverse.
We looked at the menu and thought we were in New England with the many choices of the way the mussels were prepared. The mussels were very good, the Haddock was wonderful. If you are a mussel lover, this place is a must to try. The menu must list 15 to 20 tasty ways mussels can be prepared. Good breads... More
Every once in awhile everything comes together perfectly to create a magical dinner. That was our experience at Flex Mussels. The decor is cool but comfortable. Very modern but in a warm and inviting way. It was a beautiful evening so we elected to sit on the small patio out front. The neighborhood is just what a visitor like me... More
The atmosphere and decor were nice. The service, while well-intentioned, was rather amateurish/inexperienced. Food was acceptable, not as good as one might expect from a specialized restaurant with lots of hype. I asked what the difference was between white and orange mussels. One would think that someone in a mussels restaurant would have the answer. No one knew. (I subsequently... More
Favorite mussels: Parma, San Daniele, South Pacific Favorite app: West coast oysters are always delicious Favorite salad: Iceberg wedge Favorite donut: Salted carmel, Rasberry Love to get extra bread to dip in the mussel sauce - no need for french fries but those are always delicious too. Great wine list and excellent service!
