Whenever I crave flavorful Thai cuisine, I head straight to Rama. The decor, while a bit dark, is unqiue, with a waterfall covering an entire wall and muslin hanging from ceiling to floor to create semi-private dining areas. The satay is very good, but if you like coconut (you must if seek out Thai food) you will love the flavor... More

We walked in without a reservation on a Friday night, which was met with some consternation, but they were able to accommodate us at the bar. As they walked us to the back of the building, my wife and I were a little unsure of the scene. The restaurant sports the largest weeping stone wall I've seen outside a convention... More

Attended dinner based on a local recommendation. Food was above average, but one order was severely late to the table and wasn't correct despite the delay. Would re-attempt again as the food quality was quite good. More

My husband and I loved the drapes as they gave a modest amount of intimacy between the tables. The entire back rock wall is a waterfall and the remaining walls have large but subtle Thai paintings on them. The food is outstanding and the staff was exceptional. To have great atmosphere, service, and food all in one made for a... More

Took our son for his birthday dinner. Decor and setting of restaurant was great, live DJ spinning music but not too loud or soft. Service was very attentive. We had tofu green curry, speciality hanger steak chicken and cashews- all delicious. Tom kha soup for table and order fresh spring rolls- perfect! More

I wish that I could do 1/2 stars in yelp because this is a solid 3 1/2 stars, which is very good still by my standards. The problem is that I've been to many, many Thai restaurants before. In fact, I've not yet found a restaurant that truly blows me away which is why Thai food continues to be low... More

I'm not one to blast a restaurant but this place has terrible food! The ambiance is nice, location fine, service was adequate, but the food was the worst. I have never been to Thailand but frequent Thai restaurants. The Pre Rama was so sweet it tasted like an old peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The massaman curry had NO flavor!... More

I went to Rama with a friend before attending a theater event on a Thursday evening. This was a first visit for us both and we couldn't have been more pleased with our meal. Rama certainly has the best Thai food I have eaten in San Diego county and my companion was equally impressed. Each dish we tried was distinctive,... More

My husband and I (who have traveled throughout thailand), loved this authentic thai fare. The curries are phenomenal!!! Some of the best Thai food we have had in all of California... The atmosphere of the restaurant makes you for a moment believe that you are in Thailand, rather than in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. Highly recommended!!! More

Although the upkeep of the restaurant has seem some deterioration in recent years, the food is still AMAZING. Bet Thai food I've ever had, hands down. I love Thai food, I've been to Thailand, and have tried Thai food all over the country and no one has ever come close to this kitchen (except maybe in Thailand itself!). Do yourself... More
