Latin American cuisine. A sampling from all countries. Went back a few nights during my stay in San Diego. Nice atmosphere. Prices reasonable. Around $16 - 20 a plate. The owner does the cooking waitress was great. Loved Old town a taste of Mexico without going to dangerous Tijuana More

I love this restaurant. I have been many times. It is located in Old Town but it is not the run of the mills mediocre Mexican restaurant. Berta's offers a wide variety of plates from many Latin American countries as well as from Jamaica and Spain. I have eaten most of the dishes and they are well prepared and well... More

Everything about this place is fantastic. The food is AMAZINGLY delicious, and very authentic. The service is superb. The prices are crazy-reasonable. The restaurant itself is adorable, with beautiful tablecloths and elegant settings. Especially in comparison to the overpriced tourist traps we've endured in Old Town, this is hands-down my favorite place. And if you have vegan guests, it's vegan-friendly... More

We would never have found this place without Tripadvisor. And we are grateful for the discovery. For a small place, the menu is amazingly extensive, covering cuisines from several countries: Cuba, Chile, Honduras, Argentina, Peru, Venezuela, Columbia, Guatemala, Trinidad, Costa Rica and generic Spanish Caribbean. The food was excellent. I had the Guatemalan shrimp; my husband and mother had paella.... More

An interesting menu. A good place to go if you are looking for something new. It's a small place and the service is good. In Old Town San Diego so I'd recommend a walk after your meal. More

Close to the Cygnet Theater, so it's a good place to get South American food. The food is unusual and always delicious. More

if you are looking for something out of the ordinary try this little spot in old town. I have read mixed reviews on it but our experience was stellar. The taste of the food was really good everyone at the table commented on the flavor, which is the most important part of the meal for me. Our server was very... More

We read reviews on this place and given we were only about 15 minutes from our hotel we figured to give it a go. The area looked pretty cool given the Old Town San Diego feel to it. We had dinner and had some really good food. Does quality and speed of service matter to you? If it does this... More

After reading some of the other reviews, especially concerning service, I was a little nervous about giving Berta's a try, but the promise of the food won me over. When we arrived, one deuce was occupied - no one met us at the door - in fact we stood there for a good 2-3 min. before a waiter (the only... More

Wide variety of food from all over Latin America. Unusual flavors that are delightful together. Tiny place, not many tables, but feels cozy. Great service. Has it's own parking lot--super convenient. More
