Description: Trattoria di Monica is located in the heart of Boston's North End. At the corner of Prince and Salem Streets, you will find this small 25 seat candlelit dining room with colorful walls and original artwork. Chefs and owners Patrick and Frank Mendoza serve up homemade pastas and gourmet pizzas with an imaginative twist. They strive to preserve the authenticity of the food of which they were brought up in, merely blocks from the Trattoria.

With all the great italian restaurants one is bombarded with as you walk down Hanover St in the North End, it's nearly impossible to choose a best. However if you wander just off the beaten path on to Prince St. you will find a much smaller restaurant called Monica's that has captured my heart. I first came to know Monica's... More

So, Monica's is small, but delightful. We went for a birthday dinner and everyone had a great meal and a great time. Real hits were the zucchini flowers as appetizers. We shared and everyone wanted more. Other hits were the spaghetti bolognese, veal piccata, mushroom lazagne and the salmon with risotto. Afterwards walk around to Caffe Vittoria for espresso and... I've been to Monica's a bunch of times; with my girlfriends, family, and even for date night. It's awesome! It's definitely small and the service isn't the best, but the food makes up it! I've never had a bad dish there, and my favorite is the black linguini and scallops. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for... More

First things first - this North End gem is tiny and intimate. As a result, a 7:30 Saturday night reservation on our latest visit (we've dined here 5 times) didn't yield a table until 8:15. But once seated, the food is definitely worth the wait. We generally order the specials, and have rarely had a disappointing dish. We shared bruschetta... More

Monica's in the North End was hands-down the best meal we had in Boston. The restaurant is very small, absolutely not good for a large group. We had a table of four and felt very cramped. The hostess was quite rude, she seemed inconvenienced to have us there, from yelling "shut the door!" before we were all even in the... More

This was our second visit and both meals were superior. We always try to find a new place in the North End but knew that we really liked this place. I had a special with clams and spicy Italian sausage with buccatini- fabulous- my wife had the papadrelle pasta which she likes- also wonderful. The calamari appetizer was also terrific.... More

My fiancé and I went here on Friday in sePtember. I loved our cozy table in the corner. It was a little loud but it made me feel like I was at home ( being from a loud Italian family). Their wine list was smaller but had everything you'd want! There menu was wonderful, we both ended up getting something... More

This is a tiny trattoria with great service and excellent food. We were a party of four and we were able to sneak in on an early Friday evening just before the crowd without a reservation. I would recommend reservations though because immediately after we sat down, the little place filled. The pasta is obviously homemade and there are some... More
