Description: A tradition in Boston’s historic North End. We have been serving generations of families, locals and tourists in the North End since 1931. People crave the taste of our food. Some say their mouths water just thinking about eating here. That’s why when we change even the slightest thing, they let us know it. Some things should stay just as they are.

Our third time back, this time six of us. Excellent service for a party our size. The waitstaff recognized us and welcomed us back. The homemade sangria was excellent. We had gnocchi, risotto of the day (shrimp, halibut), tortellini, fruiti de mare, spagethii pomodro. All the food was great and came out hot. The risotto special is always good! My daughter... More

The service was very attentive to our very large party. We were seated a few min after our reservation time and immediately three servers were at the table at our beck and call. Owner stopped by a couple times to check in. Food was good and prices were within the ranges of most of the north end establishments. Nothing to... More

I found it shocking all the 4-5 ratings as well. The food was marginal at best. I ha the lobster ravioli and my wife had the clams and pasta, just okay! Had better at other places in the north end. Service was great and bar was excellent but for food, try another place like Luccia, Brico, or any place else. More

My husband and I go here at least once a year. It is hands down our favorite North End restaurant. Food is always spot on and wine selection is varied and reasonably priced. Our favorite appetizer is the Antipasto all’Italiana, which includes dry Italian meats and cheeses, with olive oil. For dinner, my husband always gets the Bombolotti alla Buongustaia... More

Great food and service again. Very fast, polished services. Portion sizes are generous but not huge. Appetizer sizes are large enough to serve as an entree if you are trying to enjoy good food, but not go overboard. Best calamari we have ever eaten, or so crispy and peppery. Our friends love, love, love the bambelotti which is an unusual... More

Love the Cantina Italiana! This is our second visit here. 10 minute walk from the TD Garden. We ate here tonight after the Boston Bruins Game. Had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated but it was well worth the wait. Two of us had the Veal parm and my other son had a special sausage and pasta dish... More

This was our first time being in a real Italian restaurant, and we were very pleased! The hostess and server were great, and we loved the lasagna! I took a few pictures inside the restaurant because I thought it was a very charming place to eat. :-) More

This "old school" restaurant has been around since 1931 in North Boston's Little Italy, just minutes from downtown. I would highly recommend this place for people who are looking for non-pretentious, Italian comfort food. Simple ingredients in a warm atmosphere with no white truffle oil in sight, with solid service and a diverse menu. We sampled the Rigatoni with sausage... More
