Description: Whaddayaget when you cross the koolest new nightspot in Boston with the biggest, best, most delicious meatballs in the Northend? Answer: Nico Ristorante. Opened last August, this two-floor restaurant is the brain child of noted Boston Restaurateur Nick Varano, owner of the highly-esteemed Strega Ristorante on Hanover Street. The boldly colored interior is a perfect backdrop for the exciting, superlative, classic Italian fare and innovative creations. The kitchen is under the direction and wizardry of Nico's celebrated chef Salvatore Firicano.

I dined last night at Nico with my 8 year old son and had a fabulous meal – everything we ordered was delicious. We had the giant meatball (which came with a large dollop of ricotta cheese) and the eggplant parmesan to start, followed by chicken parmesan and rigatoni with house-made sausage. I was impressed not only with the quality... More

The food here was so fresh and amazing! The wine was excellent and the service was the some of the best we have ever experienced in a restaurant. I am a vegetarian and they even made a special Pasta Primavera for me that was out of this world good! Loved this place, would highly recommend!

My wife and I frequent the North End very often but had never been to Nico. After purchasing a GROUPON certificate we went this past week. It was as promised and more. The food was wonderful....light, subtle flavors and a perfect presentation and portion. The wait staff was attentive and helpful with recommendations. The restaurant had a nice ambience with... More

Nico, in the North End, one of restaurateur Nick Verano's original establishments, consistently serves up traditional Italian fare as well as outstanding specials incorporating fresh, local ingredients. I visited recently as part of a large group and as usual the service and food were very good. Our large party had to be seated in the basement, which is a little... More

We are usually not crazy about pasta but we were attracted by excellent reviews and tried the restaurant. No regrets! The service was friendly and good. And the food.... We ordered cream pasta with scallops and shrimps and crepes with lobster. They were not too pricey and delicious! The quantity was perfect. The ambiance is definitely nice but not too... More

I had the porcini stuffed ravioli and they were very heavy. The raviolis themselves were heavy and starchy. The mushrooms were good, the sauce good. My friends seemed to have heavy dinners too. The service is good. Small restaurant, kind of tight. One bathroom, there was a line. There are so many restaurants in the North End I would pick... More

Small little place but was able to make Friday night at 7pm. Nice menu and five or six specials although I wish they would print them. I could not remember them all. That's aid, everything was delicious. Had a tomatoe basil artichoke hearts fresh mozzarella salad with balsamic drizzle. Cheese seemed just made..tomatoes great for may 3rd. Son had gnocchi... More

Good food and varied selections. Wine list good if not a bit pricey and tables are a bit too close to each other. I would return if in the area.

With all the choices for an Italian restaurant in Boston's North End, we did our research and decided on Nico. We were not dissappointed. The hostess was most accommodatiing. We arrived an hour before our reservation and she was able to seat us. The server was very personable and made us feel really welcome. Something you don't always see at... More

We came back to Nico's tonight for our second time. We have thoroughly enjoyed our first dinner and found the waitstaff and atmosphere to be excellent. Tonight however was a disappointment. While our waiter was friendly, the food left a lot to be desired. The wine was excellent. We had a Barata as an appetizer. This dish has tomato, buffalo... More
