Great ambiance and customer service. Food is inconsistent in quality. We ordered ahi tuna for appetizer (very good), wood grilled steak (medium-rare, very good), wood grilled leg of lamb (really bad – I was not able to cut it with a steak knife, had to send back), fried spring chicken (good). Desserts – raspberry almond torte (old almond paste and... More

We wanted to eat well, outdoors with our pug puppy. The Market Place has small tables with umbrellas on a very quiet street. We ordered glasses of wine (at half price that day), the roasted squash gnocchi (sage & walnut pesto, roasted oyster mushrooms, parmesan reggiano, harissa), spinach & ricotta fritters (romesco sauce), and the togarashi seared yellowfin tuna, (sea... Our first visit to The Market Place was notable. It is a pretty restaurant, with both outdoor seating out front and two levels of seating inside. We were seated upstairs where there are white tablecloths, perhaps because we made a reservation. A large group (18) next to us turned out to be a birthday party hosted by the owner of... More

Dined here on both a regular menu (winter) night and on a themed Italian night evening....the latter left a bid to be desired food-wise, but the evening itself was wonderful. Great music and singing! However, don't let that put you off....just dine on a regular night with the regular menu and wow! the food is excellent! Chef takes time to... More

Quaint little restaurant located on Wall Street where the food is beautifully prepared and presented. Knowledgeable waitstaff with good service. Not your main street tourist stop. Best for couples dining. A tad pricey but in line for the quality. More

The waitress described our potential choices for dinner in such succulent terms, we couldn't resist salivating like Pavlov's dogs!!! She was so right, too!! For a waitstaff person to be so knowledgeable about the menu's offerings, was a rare experience! We also ate at The Inn at the Biltmore Estate...in contrast, this place was sterile and too rehearsed! Food here... More

Loved the menu choices and decided on Pork Shoulder (prepared sous vide) with sauteed collard greens, rosemary parsnip-potato mash and cider reduction. Very, very well done dish, well seasoned and plated. Server was very good, chef came out to chat, always a great thing!!! Cool decor and atmosphere. More

We've eaten at quite a few restaurants in Asheville, and The Market Place ranks in our Top Ten in downtown Asheville. The food is fresh, local, and top quality. There were twelve in our group, and Chef Dissen has brought his farm-to-table, sustainable, and eco-friendly ethic to culinary heights, without being pretentious. As fine a meal as I've had anywhere.... More
