Description: Domenico Cornacchia, chef/proprietor of Assaggi Osteria, taps into ages of ancestral Italian cooking each time he steps into his kitchen and brings a rich love of the cuisine that he so skillfully nurtured through the years. “Assaggi means tastings in Italian,” explains Domenico, “The concept of my menu is based on a variety of items that may be ordered in smaller portions.” Before deciding to pursue his dream of operating his own restaurant, Domenico was corporate executive chef and partner at Café Milano, for more than 15 years. His culinary umbrella also covered Café Milano’s two sister restaurants, Sette Bello in Clarendon, VA., and Sette Osteria in Dupont Circle.  For those who love Italian cuisine, Assaggi Osteria features homemade pasta’s, fresh seafood, veal and scrumptious beef. Assaggi Osteria sources whole fresh fish from worldwide sustainable sources, offering the finest bounty the sea has to offer. Produce is purchased from Amish farms and all desserts are homemade.

As a frequent diner of Assaggi Osteria, I have always found their seasonal standard and special entrees choices to be outstanding. Their numerous special events are always fun so recommend joining their mailing list to hear all about them. Now, what takes the experience over the top is their amazing customer service. For me, Mauro is the best and very... More

Domenico Cornacchia, the owner and chef, is a legendary figure in DC restaurant circles, and this place reflects the reasons why. The food is imaginative, well-presented, and most importantly, TASTY! From the antipasti to palate pleasing entrees, everything I've eaten here has been superb. And for the wine snob (that would be me), there is a fabulous selection of really... More

We shared a buffalo mozzarella appetizer (with zucchini blossoms) along with the house marinated olives. Both were well prepared. The basil and tomato with the mozzarella were fresh and flavorful. Our mains were branzino (black bass) and flattened, breaded veal chop topped with arugula-tomato salad. Both were well prepared with good ingredients and delicious. Service was excellent. I enjoyed watching... More

Nice menu, but expensive for appetizers and salads. Had reservation and got seated within 5 minutes. Good service, presentation of food, and close parking. More

I think this is another example of Groupon-gone-bad for a restaurant that probably does a decent job when not slammed. We sat at the bar for one drink and the bartender was friendly, quick, and competent though the drinks were top-price. The wait service was abysmal from the get go...our waiter was darting around avoiding making eye contact even though... More

I had a Groupon for this restaurant last summer that I was unable to redeem, but I still wanted to give it a try so a friend and I had lunch there over the weekend. The menu is extensive but the deal is the weekend lunch special - salad or soup and an entree or dessert for $14.00!! There are... More

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. The wine list is, and I am rather particular, one of the best in the area. It is clear that this is a well run, well thought out establishment. I recommend it without reservation. More

Have been to Assaggi numerous times in the past year for both lunch and dinner, with friends, with family and for a special private party (my son's wedding rehearsal dinner). We all love the food, the service and the ambience. We're always looking for a place not far from our Arlington home that is quiet with good food and this... More

This was our second time at this restaurant. We all ordered from the restaurant week menu had four different dishes. Everyone was pleased with the quantity and quality of the food. Extensive wine list. The standout dish was the baby octopus and shrimp appetizer. More
