My daughter and I spent 3 hours on the front patio of this lovely eatery having a truly cosmopolitan/continental style late lunch from the Bar Menu. Every taste, view, presentation, service gave us a remarkable experience. The restaurant is locate right on the water on The Embarcadero, right across the street from the old Hills Bros. Coffee Plant - at... More

A highlight of our trip was our “Gastronomic Adventures” at the Waterbar in San Francisco. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch the day we arrived and returned for dinner the night before we left to go back to the Midwest. We wanted to be adventurous in trying new things and our waiter (Lowell) took charge and surprised & delighted us with... More

I called ahead to make reservations the day of and lucked out getting a reservation at 9:45pm. This was fine for my husband and I since we wanted to have a late, romantic dinner. What the person who made our reservation failed to tell us was that the kitchen closed at 10pm (on a Saturday night!!). When we arrived, before... More

The Waterbar has the advantage of being located right on the Embacardero with marvelous views of the Bay Bridge, the bay itself, and the locals and tourists walking by. This is the restaurant to take out of town friends and those who have never been to San Francisco before. We chose to go to Waterbar on Mother's day weekend and... More

Outstanding views of the bay and the Bay Bridge to go along with incredible meals, can't beat it. Great wine list. Be prepared, it is not inexpensive but well worth it. The service was top notch, every detail covered. You can even enjoy a great meal at the bar, happy hour specials. More

I had dinner here with friends. It came recommended from a noted food critic in the bay area. The location cannot be beat. It is right off the water. The food was very good. I had the Halibut and it was prepared to perfection. I also had the ahi tuna appetizer which was outstanding. Wine selection is very good as... More

Fresh seafood, views of the water, extensive wine list...best part of the meal was the peanut butter cookie ice cream sandwich. Service was very attentive. More

WOW is this is special place for a date! So pleased with it. We had oysters (they have an amazing selection), crab cocktail, the grilled calamari and a side of beets and everything was very fresh and tasty. And the VIEW [sigh]. . . . Date night perfection. More

Three of us here in SF for a convention - one of us here 2 years ago and wanted to come back. Neat fish tanks and decor. Table by window and a view of bay and Bay Bridge. Food sounded really interesting, but was okay. Great wine list - it would have been nice to enjoy the bottle of wine... More

I don't get it. Why do people love this place? If I'm spending $40-60 per plate I want something more yummy than this. I guess you pay for the views. Sure it's dealing in the typical San Francisco stock-in-trade: fresh, organic, combined creatively, but gak, I've had better meals for 1/3 the price. Maybe it's just not my restaurant, but... More
