After attending a performance at the Orpheum Theatre, my friend & I crossed over Market St. to The Market Street Grill in the Whitcomb Hotel for an early Sat. dinner. We both had the Chicken Scallopini, salad & wine. The salad was fine - average and as expected. The chicken in the scallopini was tough & dry, even hard to... More

We had the pleasure of dining at Market Street Grill prior to attending a performance at the Orpheum Theatre. We chose market Street Grill due to its proximity to the Orpheum. We had reservations and were promptly seated at a lovely table near the fireplace. The food was just average. Not great and definitely not bad. Wonderful staff! More

Food was not good. Chowder was too thin and had too much butter in it. Chocolate cake was very good. The cheese was not melted in the omelet and the potatoes were not even browned for homefries. More

Chef greeted us in the lobby of the hotel, how could we refuse? Excellent meal and good value, too! More

My friend and I had lunch here on a week-day. It's a lovely restaurant, elegant and quiet, and service was excellent. But we felt the prices were too high for the quaality of the food, even for San Francisco. I had the Seafood Cobb salad, which sounded much better than it turned out to be. There were plenty of nice... More

Last Wednesday my husband and I attended the Wicked performance at the Orpheum. We asked an Orpheum employee where we could get something to eat and he suggested the Hotel Whitcomb (about half a block from the theater). We're glad he did! It's not in the best part of town but we really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was good... More

My girlfriend and I went to San Francisco to see Wicked at the Orpheum Theater. I made reservations for dinner at the Market Street Grill, which is literally kitty corner to the theater. We had the 3 cheese and truffle mac for an appetizer...yummy. In addition, we both ordered fish as our main entrees. The only disappointment was the Tiramisu... More

It's not that this place is so awful, it's just not really anything. It's the pablum of restaurants. Most diners ended up here because they were headed to the theater and while the place was full from about 6p.m.; once the clock hit 7:45, the place was empty, except for the sad people who had chosen this place for reasons...
