Description: Sleek and modern with one foot firmly in the Old World is the feeling at Perbacco. The restaurant boasts a brick wall original to the historic 1913 Hind building, with other touches such as a bar top and floor tiles made from white Carrara marble. With 16 seats at the bar and 7 more intimate tables, Perbacco creates an atmosphere for a glass of wine or a light bite. Perbacco also features 2 dining rooms, one on the main floor and a smaller one on the Mezzanine, which has the added allure of serving as "theater", with windows to watch all the action in the kitchen below. Chef Staffan Terje strives to cook the finest food reflecting the Italian regions of Piemonte and Liguria. Handcrafted, house-made salami, prosciutto and other meats are featured at the salumi bar. Filled pastas, a tradition in Piemonte, range from the traditional ravioli to the more exotic agnolotti. Main courses feature traditional dishes such as Bollito Misto and milk-braised pork shoulder with Savoy cabbage.

We went for our Anniversary. The service was amongst the absolute best we've ever experienced (and this includes the old Charlie Trotter and French Laundry). The food ranged between very good and superb (King Salmon) and the cocktails and wine recommended by our waiter were perfect. We'll be coming back

This is a beautiful spot in the FiDi with exquisite food. Decor is sleek and simple. Service is attentive and friendly. Food is innovative and delicious. Don't miss the Fior d'Arancia cocktail either. I still dream of the pork shoulder served atop a fruity panzanella and the best caramel ice cream I ever had.

Nicely located restaurant between Michael Mina and the Tadich Grill. Perbacco has an extensive selection of wines although slightly overpriced. The service is top notch, the brick walls along with the open kitchen give a nice atmosphere to this downtown restaurant. However there is room for improvement in the food. My grilled octopus was too salty and not blackened as... More

It is seldom that restaurants match great food with equally attentive service. This Italian restaurant is truly a great experience I would recommend prior reservation as the place gets busy even for lunch. The Risotto and the Chicken Breast with polenta were sumptuous and a treat for the taste buds. Wine list is having good selection of reds by glass... More

Found Perbacco just walking around, and glad I did. The food and service were great. Order the salumi platter - it's home made and incredible. I had Halibut for my main course which was also very good. Our entire group really enjoyed the food and the service with a smile.

Imagination and slow food combine in this orgy of the delectable in downtown SF. Friendly, efficient service and italian-influenced dishes that are original, tasty and well-priced.

Went here for lunch today with my wife. We had an appetizer, mains, and a side. Also a few glasses of wine each. We had very high expectations, which may be part of the issue. The good was quite good. Very good for the most part. Just not amazing. As visitors to SF, we would certainly try something else before... More

This restaurant was a great choice for a romatic upscale italian dinner. Wine list is extensive and has wine at every price point. We had a dish of gnocchi which was one of the best I have had. The duck dish was perfectly cooked. A great meal and service was attentive without being over the top.

With a great wine list that is reasonably priced for San Francisco, outstanding food and service, Perbacco will surprise and delight you and your guests. Four of us enjoyed cocktails, a wonderfully paced meal with starters, salads, pastas and main dishes (plus dessert to share) with two high-end bottles of wine for under $400. All in an upscale environment with... More
