We came looking for a truly authentic Chinese dining experience! Who better to ask than a local lady doing her weekly market shopping! We had not yet experienced Chinese other than a few items from a local college student and the Midwestern and Southern Chinese buffets! Satisfying as they are, we lacked the Dim Sum experience!
Individual items brought to...

Three of us ate here yesterday for lunch and had the dim sum. I have been here a number of times over the years, usually I try to go about once a year. The experience of eating dim sum in San Francisco Chinatown is not to be missed and this is an excellent place to eat. The restaurant is very...

This restaurant was recommended for dim sum in our fodors book. We went on Thursday evening but they do not serve dim sum at night. To our surprise they had dancing and a live band. This was a big outing for most people you could tell as many of the people brought their dancing shoes in a separate bag. While...

We were wandering around Chinatown feeling a little overwhelmed when we happened upon the New Asia. As non-Asians we were in the minority in this huge place at lunchtime but we are no strangers to dim sum so it didn't phase us. We were seated promptly and enjoyed the taste and variety of everything that was offered.

We've been here for a month now, and as regular dim-sum eaters back in London we're always on the lookout for somewhere good.
Yelp has not been particularly helpful as it doesn't distinguish cafe style very informal dimsum/bakery places versus bigger HK style dimsum restaurants.
New Asia was great - standard Chinese service - nothing too caring, but attentive none-the-less....

New Asia is more than a teahouse, it's also a ballroom and a great place for Chinese Wedding Banquets. Been around for over 30 years when the SF property values were not as high as they are today. Couple of other large teahouses went under, so this place is greatly enjoyed by the locals. It's packed even on weekdays as...

My wife (Chinese) wanted to eat in San Francisco's Chinatown. Our grandson's fiance had eaten here before and was satisfied that it was clean enough and had good food. They accompanied us along with another of their friends. This place is a HUGE dining hall, similar is size to a Hong Kong floating restaurant. I don't know the capacity, but...
