Our family went to Chinatown to eat lunch/dinner and found too many choices so we asked someone that was out and about where to eat. He recommeded Far East Cafe. Yummy... More

We had Chicken Kung Pao and Mongolian beef both with rice. Also Hot and sour soup. We like all the meals. Service was just OK. We also like the tea which was free of charge. Restaurant has very nice atmosfere especially when you are visiting Chinatown. We would go there again if visiting this area. More

What's not to like? Great food, service and atmosphere in the heart of China Town...full bar AND the employees are friendly! We visit the Far East every time we visit China Town, it's our family ritual... More

Had a LP SF travel guide and could not figure out a place to have an SF Chinatown meal. So, hungry, pressed for time, etc... jumped into Far East Cafe right on Grant Street. You are taken back by the back in time decor, with elaborate chandliers from a more ancient China, and the private both/rooms on the side of... More

Very friendly staff and all round good service. Seated in an unpleasant broom cupboard environment. The food was quite average. Nothing tasted particularly good so as to leave a real appreciation for the restaurant. Fairly priced but wouldn't revisit. More

We have been dining at Far East Cafe for many years because of the good food and the ability to dine in a private booth with a curtain covering the entrance. This was a novelty when we took our young children there, and now is a nice tradition even for just the two of us in an otherwise noisy, popular... More

We happened to stumble here a few nights ago as we were wandering San Fran looking for a good meal. We strolled into Chinatown, and decided to eat here, as it was one of the first places we noticed. The meal was just OK, we both had the 'special dinner' which was a price fixed option. The egg flower soup... More

We had some fantastic food here in October on several occassions. The Hunan style prawns in particular and the mongolian beef are truly delicious. The service is really good. The best Chinese food we've had on numerous visits to San Francisco. Highly recommended. More

We were visiting San Francisco and were debating where to eat. We thought Chinatown would have some choices to offer and were not disappointed. The place was packed on a Saturday night so we had to wait a while. We were lucky and got a private booth. The staff was nice and punctual. Cheesy décor with massive chandeliers and bright... More
