Description: La Folie is a French restaurant located in Russian Hill of San Francisco. Chef Roland Passot, with his wife Jamie opened La Folie in March of 1988. He combines the freshest ingredients in exotic combinations. Each plate leaves the kitchen resembling art-a canvas of color and design that tastes even better than it looks. La Folie continues to be rated as one of the top restaurants, receiving a star from the Michelin Guide, 4 stars from the San Francisco Chronicle and 4 stars from San Francisco Magazine. In celebration of 21 years, The Passots have expanded their bar into a lounge located next door, perfect for before or after dinner drinks. **We thank all of our guests for voting La Folie Best French Restaurant 2009 - 7x7 Magazine Best French Restaurant 2009 - SF Weekly Best Restaurant 2009 - Eater SF Merci!

Expensive and excellent food. Now, I will eat almost anything but my wife is quite selective. Other than the undercooked eggs, she enjoyed everything. I had the 5 course selection and my wife had the 3 course. With the amuse bouche and all the other extras, the 3 course would have been enough. There was a lot of 'upselling' of... More

Just last week my friend and I were treated by our friend to a one of the most delicious fine dining "French" restaurants San Francisco has to offer. The ambiance, the service, the food experience and added "compliments of Chef Passot" were impeccable! I was amazed as Chef Passot came to our table and every table just to ensure that... More

Been eating there for over 10 yrs. Roland is getting better and better. The 3 course is more than enough. You can't go wrong. Fab wine list, with attentive wine staff. The lounge next door is great for light meals by the same kitchen!!! More

Cold atmosphere, unfriendly staff, and bizaar menu items. A huge disappointment. More

Last night my wife and I took friends to this terrific French restaurant. While it is expensive (3 courses for $80, 4 for $90 and 5 for $100) the menu, service and the food are just outstanding. I peaked into the kitchen and was amazed at the 11 chefs and cooks intensity and care. We enjoyed our evening and loved... More

We had no troubles booking a table online at La Folie, we chose for its Michelin rating. We were struck by the restuarant's ambience - chic, sophisticated, inviting and friendly - not pretentious. The service was the best we've experienced (by Australian standards), attentive, polite and helpful with food and wine recommendations. Owner chef Roland Passot has created an exceptional... More

I cannot comment on the food -- we didn't get that far. We were seated at the time of our reservation and then waited. . .and waited. . .for a server to greet us and take our drink order. Then we waited. . .and waited. . . for our drinks. I had some questions about the menu and the server... More

Everything here is meticulously prepared and served. Never had anything less than a perfect meal. It's tiny and intimate and the service is attentive but not intrusive. A favorite for decades. Very pricey, but always a memorable evening. More
