Cafe Bastille, on European-like Belden Street, is truly French. The food is straight up French Bistro fare, and the atmosphere created by the vintage French signage is delightful. The French-style service includes the team approach to serving. It's beautiful to see. All the servers check on all the customers and bring whatever is needed. It isn't necessary to find "your"... We heard about this from a caterer friend of ours who has been to Paris many times. This bistro is located on Belden Street, which is only 1 block in length and features a number of restaurants. We were not disappointed. They offer, in addition to the regular menu, a number of fixed price 3 course dinners, all of them... More

As New Yorkers we like to walk, so a trip to a Belden Alley restaurant downtown is enjoyable. Cafe Bastille serves classic french dishes, not fussied up or fancy. I enjoyed the Cassoulet, Frissee Salad, mussels. The french onion soup was good, altho not the best I have had. Open dining room with walls filled with french signage, and service... More

My friends and I had eaten here before, and we decided we wanted to return. And we are glad we did! Cafe Bastille is in an alley with several other restaurants, lights strung above the street year-round, giving the area a celebratory atmosphere. There is seating outside of each of these restaurants, and though it was a lovely, warm evening,... More

I love Belden street - it reminds me of Europe. For my birthday, I really wanted to dine in Paris, but since it's a down economy and I don't think my 8 guests would all be willing buy the plane ticket, I decided hosted a dinner for friends at Cafe Bastille. I've been here many times, but forgot how much... More

My colleague (who lives in the SFO area) took me to this place for a business lunch and it was great. I would never have found it on my own. It's in a little alley lined with cafes. It was the only one that was packed out of all of them, so that's a good sign. Our waiter was definately... More

My daughter and I stumbled upon this quaint little cafe in an alley way while coming back from a shopping walk. We absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is wonderful and I truly felt like I was in Paris. We went for lunch and enjoyed the bone marrow appetizer, a bloody "marie", quiche, frites, salad & a dish my daughter loved... More

We found the information about this restaurant in the "Visit SF guide" we found in the hotel room. The restaurant is located in Belden Place between Pine/Bush and Kearny/Montgomery -- very close to Market Street and Union Square. Belden Place is supposed to be SF's little Paris and therefore goes wild with celebrations on Bastille Day every year. We went... More

We ate here 2 days ago for dinner. There were 4 of us and although it had been raining the tarps and outside heaters made the outdoor environment fun. Albeit, our table was sitting on a slope and it was hard to get your chair level. Our appetizers and entrees included. 2-French Onion Soup (bland & not enough onions). An... More
