We always eat at Plouf's whenever we are in San Francisco. We are never disappointed. We both had mussels. We were in France three weeks ago, Plouf reminds us of many bistros in France. Worth the visit. Reasonably priced, nice wine selection including wines by the glass. More

Once a favorite, last visit was not up to the usual standards. Prices were higher on this visit and salad was not interesting at all. the place used to be packed, but was not on last visit. Maybe something has changed. More

We had seafood based starters which were very good. Made the mistake of coq au vin for main which was average and the chicken overcooked and stuck to the bone. The main was simply chicken and a few vegetables, so it felt overpriced. Experience slightly soured by a debate over size of tip for service. There is a 4% fixed... More

From the three evenings in San Francisco we dined there twice - the third we were invited to the other place, not good. Oysters in Plouf are formidable. Also mussels were on the highest level (I recommend pastis). Sauteed calamari - wonderful. The same about scallops. Next time we took lamb ribs (good, but might be a little softer) and... More

My husband & I dined at Plouf on a Sunday night after making an 8pm reservation. A minute after we entered, another couple with a reservation as well arrived. The woman who greeted us, owner/manager(?) was pleasant, but clearly she was a bit harried and busy. We were told that it would be another five minutes or so until an... More

After a wonderful Saturday exploring California's Sonoma wine country, we returned to our Financial District hotel looking for a good nearby restaurant. We found Plouf online and, despite that I'm not a big seafood fan, all the great reviews definitely inspired us. It was a cool evening and while there were plenty of tables available outside, we waited at the... More

A great simple relaxed restaurant with great ambience. The food is superb. Try the muscles as a shared appertiser before the duck entree. I have been here four times now, and each time the food is delicious. More

My husband and I tried this little place because we were close where we were staying and after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed! We both LOVED this little place. We sat at the bar and we went during happy hour which we were the only ones for awhile. I ordered the Plouf Mussels and a... More

I always think of Belden Alley as a sunshiny-day sort of place...however I recently took a late lunch (and subsequent rest of the day off work) with my sweetie on a cold, rainy day in San Francisco. Plouf, known for its great outdoor seating and Parisian charm was just as warm and inviting during a rainstorm. We snuggled up at... More

My husband and I thought we would grab a bite before going to the movies. Since we were in the Union Square area I remembered this area called Belden Alley or Belden Place, not sure of which one but it is off of Bush and Kearny Streets. We chose Plouf. Glad we did as there are 4 or 5 other... More
